yesterday i was driving my skylark and the 2bbl carb started "burping" around 50-55 mph and i would go slower or faster and it would stop, so i took it in to get a tune up. new points, condenser, cap rotor, wires, plugs, filters, took the carb off took appart and cleaned, oil change, timed the engine. the mechanic sayed that one of my piston rings was going bad, cilinder 8 plug had oil traces on it.

well anyways, i was driving back from the tune up place and the car was running better, but still a little weird, it seemed like the throtal response was slow. anyways we made it home and i had to go to work in an hour, so when i went to work, my car started fine but was idling really fast, i was about to pull out onto the road and gave it alitttle gas and it stalled, restarted and tried again, stalled out, it seemed when ever i gave it gas it would bog down and stall. the third time i gave it some gas it started to bog and i let off alitle and started going, the throtal responsace was bad, seemed like it had less power.

so i was just wondering what could of caused this, any tips to try to fix this? i am going to take it back to the tune up place to see whats up. but much rather fix it myself if possible.
i have read about similar problems that others have had people gave some things to truble shoot. choke not working properly, leaking vacume lines bad fuel pump. does anyone have any opinions? because i need to get this car running good for school which starts next wendsday.

1972 350-2bbl buick skylark, no modifications (yet :Brow: )
