    Anyone using one?
Not that I have the time to go drag racing anytime soon. But still making some changes to the car.

I have a friend with a 850 hp 540 BBC Nova that changed from a Dominator to an SV1, with his Dom carb dailed in ran consitant 9,70's to 9.80's at mid to upper 130's.
Changed to the SV1 and first time out albeit really good air, ran 9.40 at 140.5.

Looks interesting. Especially if racing with a 4150 and wanting to go bigger. (like me)

It's a carb people either love or hate. Do a search, you'll find alot of mixed reviews..

There's a lot of discussion about this carb on Yellow Bullet.

I would question if your friend missed the boat on his first carb choice, I know someone that tried one and had nothing but problems he sent it back and put his old Pro system 4150. Chris

I've read a lot of good stuff on it myself. I think it is in its second generation now. I can't speak personally about that carb, but I did get a 4150 from them and Patrick answered all my silly questions and concerns before I ever bought it. I was a little reluctant to run a dp and no choke on the street, but my 383 really does like it. He told me the drivability would be great and he didn't lie.

I've heard stories about guys calling him on Saturdays or Sundays while they were at the track with some tuning question and he always helps them out. Gotta like that kind of service.

That's the problem with not having a test session the same day with equipment to test air density, temp., wind speed, track temp., etc. You have absolutely no idea why the car went faster or slower. You can change only one thing at a time and make back to back to back runs. (at least 3 runs making only one change. Another idea is to put the engine on a dyno where you can control all these things easily. You NEVER make more than one adjustment at a time. exp. jets and timing = 2 changes. This is a no no! This is why we continue to buy and buy and buy and have no clue what's going on. Document every pass. It is extremely unlikely that a competition carb. of the same size in any brand would add the 40 + or - HP needed to make that much difference. A street version to competition carb of the same size and brand has been documented to make close to that much difference. ps. I have no skin in this game!

I'll have to look that up...I'm not a member and won't let me sign up so the search function is useless.

Hey Dan, sorry to hear about your engine...Will you have something back together for this year?

    PS
Thanks for the feedback guys. I know Todd (the nova owner) is happy with his sv1 and is consistently faster with it in the same air.

If you didn't want to sign up, you can google search the site, which tends to be better than forum searches anyway. In google, put this:

    site:yellowbullet.com sv1

Or whatever you want to search for. It tells google to only searh on that domain. I use it quite often for the many forums I am on.

    Good tip, Thanks!

Did you figure out why your motor broke?
I should have time throughout mid season till the end to come out and play...

My nephew was working on a SBC 427 with one of these carbs and could never get it to run right Patrick tried to help him several times and he finally gave up on the carb. Patrick sent him a 4150 to put on it and the thing is a beast now. The engine is in a S10 pick-up and over the weekend he had his best outing. I can tell you Patrick is a great person to deal with.
