I am fortunate to have the original build sheet for my car and it is in fairly decent shape - though weak enough to give me concern. What have others done to preserve your documents like a build sheet ? Thanks, Steve PS . must be almost winter as I'm on to these kind of projects!

Have you thought about having it laminated?

I was in the garage last night and looking at the bottom of my bucket seat for the 64 and found what looks to be the remains of the build sheet! Too bad the seat didn't come with my car when it was new!

I always take the original buildsheets/window stickers I find to Office Max and have them make me a couple of color copies/scans of them.I then have the copies laminated and keep one with the car for display and one in my scrapbook.I never laminate the original but have it put in a sheet protector. The color copies look as good as the original basicly.

I am in the middle of a frame off restoration on my 71 GS350 with 4sp and found my built sheet on top of the gas tank. When I reinstalled the gas tank, I figured, why not make a copy and place it back where it came from, so that is what I did. I figured incase I lose the original built sheet that there is a copy where I found it!

Very cool idea. Thanks for the tips and stories. I'm thinking about placing it between a couple of thin sheets of lexan or plexi glass and sealing them together. Probably too neurotic, but they made it 37 years so far and would be nice to make it another 37. Thanks, Steve

I like the idea of making copies and then having those laminated but for the originals I would put in some kind of air tight bag (would a good Ziplock work?) and put them in my safe.

. . . a ziplock bag or clear acetate sheet protector will keep the original protected, after a few copies are made from the original ! :TU:

I made a copy of mine then put the orginal in a ziplock bag and put it in the fireproof safe. A safety deposit box works well too.
