I know! My nephew and I were down at the Chicago Auto Show today when he started getting text messages on his phone about 3:15PM. He lives about 4 blocks away from campus and he has many friends that attend NIU. Some of the text messages he was getting was inside the building where the gunman first struck. Just an absolute tragedy! What is inherent in kids nowadays that make this type of violence an everyday occurance? I just pray that my 8 and 10 yr old can make it through school everyday safe and sound. It's not enough that we as parents have to worry about raising our children to be good citizens of this world but now we have to fear that they can survive their education. You never think it will strike so close to home until it is right there in your backyard. I can't even imagine what the parents of the victims, much less the victims themselves, are even going through at this moment. Pray for the victims and everyone affected by this incident indeed!
