Solved: loose bolts holding flexplate to the back of the crank. Will be pulling transmission(again) and trying to remember why I didn’t remember to thread lock these last time as well as inspecting flex plate for damage. Thank you to everyone for your responses and suggestions.
I can and can likely get some loctite on the threads as well without being able to remove them, but cant see if there is any damage to the flexplate. I loosened the torque convertor bolts and slid it back and was able to tighten all the bolts. I estimate before I tightened the bolts I could move the flexplate 1/2" in either direction without turning the engine so I am worried the bolt holes have been enlarged. I tried to back them out but the hit the convertor even with it pushed back all the way in the transmission. If I wasnt worried about the flexplate I would just work some loctite up to the bolts, tighten and run it. After I tightened them it didnt knock anymore and it did move the motor when rotating by hand with no play.....so maybe the flexpate is OK?????
