I have a 1970 Skylark convertible with power windows. The windows need to be adjusted and I was wondering if anyone can tell me what I am getting into - is this a backyard mechanic project?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

It is not that difficult but don't force anything that is rusty or frozen (get some penetrating oil or such). A "nice to have" is a '70 Fisher Body Service Manual. I've done this job on many of my convertibles and it is just time consuming.

From another back yard mechanic, just follow all the instructions in the shop manual - it covers all the adjustments you will need to get the glass working properly. Lube everything while your in there ! :TU:

Can I assume with me being a 67 Skylark owner that the 67 Body manual would have the same information?

Curious, what do they recommend for lubricating (I'm assuming) the mechanism? Are there other items that need cleaning or lubrication?

Use a light coating of white lithium grease (Lubriplate 630 AAW or equivalent), on tracks, guides, cams, and regulator teeth. A spray type dripless silicone on regulators, pivot points and rollers. The spray cans usually come with a small plastic tube that fits into the spray knozzle, and is ideal for reaching hard-to-get-at, or confined spaces.
The nylon rollers, and pivot points, have a tendency to sieze up, from corrosion, with age, and a light application of silicone spray will free them up and protect the steel shafts. The door lock, door hinges and door handle mechanisms will also benefit from a light application of silicone spray.
Wipe off any access lubricant on exposed areas ! :TU:
