Does anybody know anyone on LI thats good with convertible top repairs. I replaced broken lines with new and also replaced 1 cylinder the problem is I cannot get it 2 self bleed. I followed the directions from convertible top specialists in Fla where i got the parts to the letter and cannot get it 2 go up. At the end of my rope. any help is appreciated. BTW its a 70 Skylark. power top motor runs when I hit switch. maybe i should try with the cylinders disconnected? Of course it worked fine b4 the car was restored and bodyman who replaced trunk pan broke the old lines:rant:

Im not sure what procedure the top place had you do, but the Fisher body manual has a procedure for bleeding out the system.

Sounds like its all bound up with air.

If I can my hands on it I will check it out. I tried last summer with negative results. I forgot exactly how it was done. Since I bought the stage 1 the vert was off the road but I plan on having both registered 4 next summer.

Apple Hydraulics is a rebuilder. I dont think they do repair work on cars.

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Real simple...need an assistant and you in the trunk.

Remove the rubber plug and put your thumb over the fill hole...have the assistant briefly run the motor....10 secs or so.....then gently lift your thumb off the hole and let the air escape....add some fluid and repeat the process until all air is out.....should not take more than 15-20 mins to bleed the system. Use automatic trans fluid for filling.

I had the cylinders, lines and motor out of mine a dozen times im sure before I discovered the pump was bad.

(side note... I got a pump out of Lebaron, cheap too. $13 at the local junk yard. Just switch the reservoirs and it mounts exactly the same.)

I used the same process George mentions and had no problem bleeding the system.
