mhgs it just takes money !!

In looking at the poston intake manifold it would appear that it would work to cut the center divider to the floor and cut the passages to equal dimensions. has anybody tried this before ?? Thus making it the same as a single plane. I have a ta intake also but this would def not work for it.

Can you post some pics? If it is feasible, I will order an intake and hog the crap outta it, as long as someone who is gonna be dynoing a motor wants to test it. Not butt dyno...but the real thing.

You know...the butt dyno just leaves crap all over parts.

You need to cut the center divider out for it to just to run reasonably, thats the solution to make a poston intake perform better than stock. It is by no means a "possible" single plane intake.

Correct. That intake is a dual plane and will NEVER be a single plane.

I never seemed to have any problems with the s-divider intake stock just port matched. Many people have had great results running the poston intake so I do not know why everyone seems to say it does not work very well. Nick A runs mid 12s with his nitrous 350 and poston intake and is still pushing further.

Tip, read the plugs to find the lean cylinders then tune to those and you will be sure not to lean out.

Granted it looks great Sean, but are there any back-to-back numbers so we can see how the experiment fared? I hadn't yet heard anything since January and am eager to see what's up (I am guessing good things).

Without that, the word "best", like "beauty", is in the eye of the beholder; we all know it. It's good to be passionate about it, but the piece needs to stand on its own merit, like any other speed part.

I have never seen any proof of the TA or Poston intakes being any better than the stock iron so Hectors intake looks to be the best DP intake out there.

I will take an alum X factor with multi port FI over any of our other options!

I will take some pics when I get done with what I think might just work.

I like to think that mine is the best looking dual plane out there but I'm just a little biased on that tought:laugh: .I don't have any Poston parts on that one, just the TA and the Edelbrock were mutilated to come up with it.Like I mentioned on the original thread,it will be a while before I can bolt it to an engine and my goal is for it to perform better than what's available to me right now as a dual plane. In any case, unless the piece turns out to be a real bad part,I will use it on a future build. If it turns out to be a great improvement I'll be really pleased but it won't mean much since I won't be making any more, that was a one shot deal.It was a lot of work and a gamble on my part,I consider it a personal achievement that it's all one piece now and that maybe I'll be able to bolt it on an engine one day.As far as testing goes, maybe one day I could try something along the lines of seat of the pants with a couple of manifolds that I have but there would be no dynoes involved, like I said, too much work, time and money already invested. In other words, please don't set any high expectations on this part, the experiment was to try and graft the two manifolds and it was a personal challenge which I feel it was acomplished to my satisfaction. The performance aspect, well,I'm hoping that the Edelbrock engineers took care of that when they designed the Air Gap,that's beyond my capabilities. However,I'll be lying if I say that I'm not hoping for the best:beer .

On the topic of this thread,I tought that the center divider was supposed to be milled .750" on the Poston intake to make it perform, does it need to milled completely to the bottom or just the .750"?I have to use the Poston on my '79 so I can retain the EGR for my yearly visual emission/safety inspection.

You are correct, only .750" needs to be removed from the center divider to make it perform.

Hector , on the Poston intake .750 on the center divider is plenty of cut down . If you take the whole divider out you will loose the flow charactaristics that you need .

Thanks for clearing that up guys.

Hector....on Car Junkie TV before it was closed down they milled a few dual plane intake center dividers and it always improved their performance.....you might try it on your home build. It worked just like a spacer...but no spacer was required.

BTW...if someone will send pics of the Poston...I have nothing but time! Lots of port work time!!

I will get some pics up tonight of the shot down the throat.......I know that by removing the divider there will be more work needed to the runners to clean them up but I am going to try it in the spirit of cuz I can:beers2:

This is the best mod for a TA intake.

    The yellow adds 20HP

I'm afraid if that was on my engine I would lose 20 HP:spank:

That custom fabbed dual plane is EXTREMELY impressive. I wonder if Edlebrock would be interested in that. I'm sure seeing that piece would make it much easier to produce their own 350 Air-Gap intake.
