I was curious as to anyone has any tips on a real nice intake manifold for my 1972 Riviera. I really want to get an SP1 through TA Performance but I'm not sure if I'll have enough hood clearance...any suggestions?
Hi Grendel, I'm pretty sure the SP1 will fit no problem, although not much room for air cleaner. We have an '71 Rivvy with a Wildcat intake which is about the same height. Although when available will be swapping it out for a new Edelbrock B4B with a 1'' open spacer and a Mighty Demon annualar carb. What is the rest of your build up and have you had it at the track? Best wishes
Thanks Yeah, the new B4B that's come back is probably what I'm going to end up getting. When I pull the money together that is. Along with headers, chrome valve covers, etc. I haven't had it at the track yet but I've gotten to 100 MPH+ and the engine still pulls haha. Scary going that fast in a 19' car. The only upgrades I've done to it include an edelbrock cleaner and element (kept original stuff), new water pump, alternator and bigger radiator. The rest of the car is completely stock. Look under the category "All Nick's Pics" to see my car. Thanks, Nick
Hi Grendel, You may well be suprised as to how quick the beasty will go. Can't quite remember the mph but got our '71 down to 14.4 ET's with about what you have right now. Think it was about 96mph but that was a few years ago. You'd be surprised as how much can be gained just by re-curving the distributor + upgrade or switch to a strong HEI and playing with the Q-jet. Our car in now running down at 13.3 @ 101. With the new carb and intake and some suspension work 12's are right there. Best of luck with your combo, and if I can be of any further help just mail me.
