Yeah. It's a 10 bolt rear-end, so you can swap in a unit. Someone else should chime in with more details.

These parts are not available from the aftermarket. The ring gear is a 9 3/8, and is basically available in most of the big cars in 71-73...with a few others like the Electra and Estate wagon thru 76.

Best chances of finding a posi for your car is looking for a Riv GS parts car....or an estate wagon - these rears are not easy to find.

I took a posi rear out of a 71 electra. I cant remember the gears, but it was a posi. I might even still have it somewhere, Pete

If you find it, let me know. I might want to buy it.

Definitely possible. My '75 Limited has a 2.73 posi, I have the original window sticker to prove it.

    Sorry, not for sale, tho!

I would think such a thing's not so hard to find, in that there were a lot of Electras and Estates ordered with the trailering package. Don't know if the package included posi, but you would think most cars with the package would also be ordered with posi.

    Just a thought.

I have a 10 bolt 8 7/8 posi rear under my 76 Electra (see avatar)
According to the chassis manual ratio's were 2.56, 2.93 in Cal, and 3.23. (codes vj,vw,vx). I'm stuck with the 2.56 which is kinda low!
There are no aftermarket parts out there that I can find, I've looked and looked, but another thread on this board has a possible solution...

Supposedly everything lines up and with a more common rearend, you can get almost any gear ratio you want, I wish I had some money, some warm weather, and some time!
