its an Eaton posi..factory GM...it just happens that 10 bolts have ten ring gear bolts, and 12 bolts have 12..... if its a 12 bolt $350 if its a 10 bolt $250
The casting #EDB-30174 is a GM 12-Bolt 4 series posi carrier. It appears to be a standard unit. The posi units used in COPO cars had larger side gears, and smaller gears on the cross shaft, thus were machined differently inside to fit the side gears. Were it the HD (COPO) unit, it would be worth considerably more.
1967 october GEAR SET ALSO (67 10) original GM 4.10 gears (41 10) Original 4 series posi (30174 casting) 200 # preload springs Good luck Jim
lol i know but what would the numbers be for a 4.11? the reason he thought that is the guy he got it from said it was 4.11 i clearly told him. the guy is smoking something. i see the numbers...
Chevy gears in the early years were 9 -37 BUT after realizing that the tooth contact was less they gave MORE teeth to make better tooth contact between the the number of teeth that touch at once. 10 -41 More teeth means less heat and more strength. Jim
