I install an autometer playback recorder on my 65 last weekend. I recorded two passes, which is very to cool, but I notice that the tach needle studders or skips a little during a pass. Is that normal or is something going on w/ my car that I cannot feel by the seat of my pants.

    Thanks,

    Possibly.....

I never got any studdering out of my Payback tach. I did have a high rpm miss/beak that it picked up but that was from a little too much nitrous and possible too wide a plug gap. A tach will show and pickup an ignition miss or studder. That doesn't mean you have one but it is possible. If you aren't "feeling" anything, it can't be that bad. But be aware if it and keep you "pants" on a watch out for it the next time your out.
