I just got a 67 Skylark vert. The top is ok, but the plastic window no longer zips and is yellowed and cracked. Is it possible to just replace the window? Are there instructions somewhere?
    Thx!

I think you have to almost remove the top to replace the window. I have never done it but the guy that installed my top had a 67 in for that job and said that was the case.

Yes. I had a 66 Olds 98 convertible done a few years back, $250 at my favorite shop.

Was that $250 to replace the plastic window? Including cost of window?
Or is that the cost of replacing the top?

The $250 was to furnish and replace the rear curtain. The rear curtain has the window, zipper and surrounding material. If you look at yours you will see it is separate from the top.

There are a few videos on Youtube about top replacement. The rear window is attached to the rear bow with staples. So you would have to at least remove the convertible top back to the rear bow. If the whole job is worth $250 including the window, it seems like its not even worth it to mess with it yourself. Your not only paying for the parts and labor, your paying for the guys experience in putting it on without damaging the existing top and installing it without wrinkles. Some jobs just aren't worth doing yourself. In the end, they wind up costing you more

Top AND window replacement would be in the $1500.00 range. And its not really a DIY job.And Im not to sure Id mess with the rear window myself either. Just my .02

I've replaced both canvas (71 VW super beetle) and vinyl (80 Fiat Spider) quite well - so am comfortable with the complexity. Since most of the cost is actually labor - and I'm comfortable with that aspect, I see this as good ROI if I'm willing to invest the time. But, insight from others who done it is valuable - so on the lookout for that.

KEE auto tops makes an inexpensive rear top section... But for TOP quality (pun intended), go to ELECTRON TOP, for a complete top and rear.
