Has anyone tried to change the 1964 Wildcat Convertible plastic window to glass? I have seen a picture of one but that's all.

Just be sure that the well can accomadate glass or you will be in for a surprise when top goes down and it shatters. Was it available with glass? If it was then no problem but entire rear curtain will need to be changed as glass is sewn right in and then color may not match existing top especially if old.

If you are getting a new top, check around. Sometimes they'll offer glass with a larger piece of fabric at the bottom so it will not encounter problems in the well. The window would be a bit smaller, but you can't beat glass.

I figured something like that. I saw one on E bay and was wondering if anybody had actually tried it.

Years ago, when I had the top replaced, I opted for glass. I should have pushed the place for the de-icer. They didn't want to order that one because the car didn't come with it - but I could have wired it up easily.

What kind of car? Who did the glass?
    Thanks Dan

A number of years back I tried out a top with a glass window on our '68 Firebird. It was designed to fold in the middle along a silicone-type seam. What a POS! That seam only lasted a couple weeks.

When confronted, the top manufacturer said that it really wasn't meant to be used. :spank: It wasn't advertised for use with tops that stay up all the time. :Do No:

That particular top was obtained through Classic Industries and I can't remember now who made it.

1970 Skylark. The place is in North Olmsted, Ohio, but I don't know who they ordered the top from.

i have not done any Buicks ,but have changed Olds 98 ,cutlass, Chevell ,over to glass when putting on new tops and found them to interchange exactly like plastic ones . You might want to contac a manfacturer for specs, i use Kee top.

Sorry I can't weigh in on Wildcats but I had glass put in my Skylark. The car was not designed for glass ,so I have to put up with un-zipping the glass (on three sides) it and laying it down before I put the top down. It's kind of a pain but I really like the glass.I will try to stop over at the shop and find out the manufacturer.By the way I changed it to canvas which has held up great but certainly not original.
