When I do my rebuild I want to end up with around 10 or 10.5 compression but would like to do this without milling heads or block so that if I should decide to play with different intakes I wont have to mill any surfaces. I see that some people are using high compression pistons, 11 or 12 to 1, but are ending up with a true ration of around 10 to 1 due to gasket thickness, head volume, etc. This seems the route i would like to take. Now my question is if the pistons yield to much possible compression during a mock up, is it safe to machine down the piston surface without weakening it? Looking into the weisco pistons or maybe TA's custom forged. Allen
one more ques. Are the weisco 1/16 and 3/16 ring pack ok to use in a street motor or is that a race only setup? Allen
You can use that ring set for anything. It's actually a Mopar ring size. I have a set of 11.0:1 Ross pistons that I plan to use with just a clean up pass on the heads and block. I'll probably use an Orange Crush gasket.
