Anyone have a nice chunk of the pink resistor wire or the cloth covered resistor wire?

Doug; Let me know if you find some, I am having ign. issues also. Ran a 14 guage wire with a ballast resistor to by pass the resistor wire for now. Only had 3.2 volts with ign. on at pos. coil term. to grd. Supposed to be 5- 5.5v. Coil issues too. May yank everything & go MSD.:TU:

I am just trying to set up a neater looking harness. Don't like the look of the ceramic resistors. What really ticks me off is I know that I have thrown these wires away. Maybe a site that specializes in antique autos would have this.

Run the wire from the fuse box inside the car, to resistor, then thru firewall to dist. keep the resistor under the dash!

Make sure the resister isn't touching any wiring under the dash as it gets very hot and will melt things. A new resister will also stink like something is burning for the first couple times you run the car, as long as it's not touching wiring or plastic this is normal and will go away.

I mounted my to one of the metal frame pieces with a self taping screw.

    Good luck!

The resister wire does not go all the way to the coil. It only goes from the firewall plug to the tee with the starter run wire near the valve cover. After the tee, the wire to the coil is regular wire. It's done that way to give the coil the full 12 volts when the starter is engaged. :TU:

The plan is to just run an auxiliary wire set so I can just switch over if the MSD box dies out. Just something to make sure I can get home. Thanks for all the good info.

i know it is not correct, but is neater and easier. also can be used as a 12volt source. ceramic resistor like showed before. find the one that gives the right
volts you need. then you have a 12 volt side and a lower volt side to tap into. jim.
