I like his Regal, powered by Chevy, Buick or Apollo afterburner, or as long as it's GM powered. To give him a bunch of crap just because it's got a BBC is silly. They are, after all, all of them GM's products, and it's under the thread V8 Powered Regals, I don't think we need members thinking they're sheriff Bufford T. Justice givin him a bunch of :ball: just because he's powered it differently then what they might specifically wish to see, but so what. I guess I cross both boarders, and I'm a bad egg too boys, Stole my 71' GS's 350 and trans out to put in an 86' Regal, because I have a BBC going into my GS now, a nice "free" 454 I got, and could cheaply build so I could finally enjoy big block power in my GS. It's so silly, aside from facia, head and tail light configuration the regal is the same car as a Cutlass, Monte, or Malibu of those years as well the GS is the same car as the 442's, Chevelles etc of those years. I recently saw pictures on the net somewhere where a guy had put a Gran National's front end on an Elcamino, I thought that was kick A$$ Cool looking. I love imagination and thinking outside the box too.
i have a question.....so guy's have ask me questions about my car which is really cool ...i reply to thos questions ...but i don't get a reply back from them .......why is that ??????
not sure what you mean most people ask to learn more. like i asked you how much your car weighed jus was intereted because there was another thread about lightening your car. Mr car went thru tha scale at 3775lbs wit me in it now im almost 275 but my car still is alot hevier than most of yours is. I figure if i can get down to sum of your guys weight it could be trouble for sum of you :Brow: I still have stock interior full exhaust and all steel wit the exception of the hole that i cut out of the hood to put the cowl insert. Its basically a learnig excercise that why people ask ive been thinking bout building a pump gas chevy motor jus for experimintation thats why i asked how streetable your combo is.
Thanks...I'm sure it will!:TU: My shop is getting closer to being done so I can get back to my Regal. As far as EVER putting any Shivvie in anything other than a Shivvie....won't happen on my shift...I'd as soon burn anything I have first! On a positive note...I can say you have a nice looking Regal! Is the 454 mostly stock? According to my Moroso slide calculator it says that with your car weighing 3388lbs and running 123mph puts you in the 475hp range. o No: Anyway...no hard feelings, we Buick purists are just that and believe that the Buick TriShield flag's colors don't run either!:TU: BTW....there is a braced Moser 9", 35-spline axles, Moser bolt-thru aluminum center section with billet Detroit Locker and 3.70 gears awaiting installation once my lift is wired back up!
yea it's pretty much stock 10.6:1comp, .598 lift cam , edelbrock rpm heads , my calculations ..put my motor in at 638 hp at the crank and with a 22% drive train loss..so yea 492 hp at the wheels sounds about right .
Simple answer: You answered thier questions to thier satisfaction. Folks here ask polite questions out of mild interest, don't read too much into it. Some simple advice, don't bother taking stuff you read on the boards too personally or you'll get your shorts in a twist really easily. BTW since nobody mentioned it, most of us on the board put our first names in the Signature, make the board a little more friendly (something we occasionally screw up uzzled: )
AHHHHH .....I'm feeling the love already...lol Sorry to have come off as an ass in my earlier post, but we all have to understand that the cost to build a BBB is extreme. If you look in the right places, you can find good used BBC race parts for cheap. I know where a set of aluminum BBC heads were for less than 800 bucks. Didn't take long to sell them. If I get a great deal on a BBC or SBC thats ready to run,I may entertain the idea of putting it in my Skylark. I can find a stroker 383 for about as much as TA heads. I am on a strict budget,so I have to do what I have to do. BTW Nice car!!!
Hoods Hey 86Regal454 I prefer Mr.Toilet :TU: Hey LilBowtie I love the hood I have definitely decided on the 4 inch cowl now where did you get it
Btw Hey 86Regal454 Iwas considering the 50/50 and trick springs for the rear of my Regal but I am building a street/strip car that will see alot of street duty so I wont be using 90/10's in the front. How streetable is this rear setup you are using? and will it work without the 90/10 setup in front. Anybody tried this???
bigdawg70 hey big dawg70 tell me about your car ..,motor ,suspension , tranny converter , rearend , looks like it leaves real hard , what are you 60" times ?
86regal, I have nothing against your engine or your car. But why would you post it here on V8 Buick.com (emphasis on Buick engines more than Buick bodys) in a V8 Buick powered (emphasis on Buick engines) regal section other than to see if you can get a rise out of someone? This section was set up specifically for Buick V8 powered regals. What is not to understand? The internet is full of sites that were set up to talk about cars like yours. PS Kinda looks like a belly button to me but at least its clean fast and not a another sbc. Enjoy your car you will finds lots of people who will geek all over it. Most of us here are here to see cars like Kerrys where the owner has decided to go the extra mile to make it clean fast and Buick powered. xx
I completely understand the premise of the V8 Buick-Powered Regals section, but perhaps -- if I may -- it's like this for Dickie: he's just a proud owner, and wants to show his car off. 10.83 is nothing to sneeze at, and it's a clean car, too. Kinda like that one TLC "Life Lessons" commercial, where the guy shows a pic of his newborn baby to the guy standing beside him at the next urinal.
It's true... there was a 383 shortblock for sale in the local classifieds back in the summer for $300. Used or fresh, I don't remember, but that's a sweet deal. And no, it wasn't an old, crusty Mopar block.
buickV8 I could remember in the mid-90..S.Actually it is in the North-East chapter news-letter.My car's weight 3375 with me in it ran 10.27 in E-town and 10.22 at Atco. The engine had stock rods, stock crank,11 to 1 Ross racing pistons, stock suspension, with no-op bars and two airbags. Also steel heads The cost? Not much more than that BBC.And that was over ten years ago. With today's tech knowledge and parts made...BrunoD.
Thats putting it out there Bruno. Keep Going Fast with Class. Buick Powered to the End. Shoot use some Pictures of those wheels Passes of That Bad Red 64 BUICK
86 not really much to the motor stock rods, stock crank a set of used flat top forged piston, a set of 73 heads i ported and but big valves in them. A hydraulic cam, sp1 intake, 850 holley and it still uses tha stock rocker arms. im using a long tail 400 with 4000stall converter with 4.10gears. Car has full interior full 3inch exhaust and like i said before in bowling green it was 3775 wit driver! ou: Right now the cars best 60ft time is a 1.45 on spray the best was a 1.39 The suspension has boxed lower adjustable uppers comp enginering shocks wit a set of stock springs the front is still using the original springs and i just installed the comp engineering in front but it dint actually help tha 60 i was replacing tha ball joints and front end parts. my laptop is down but i did find these pictures on tha net of it.changed tha color last year http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/1627055/12/79677995 http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/1627055/38/80197803
Buick power I still don't know how to post pictures, but the '64 just came back from Cecil in Mariland and ran a 9.12 145.5 MPH.Most cars in my class have custom made Cone conv,I have a Jegs off the shelf Ati conv.,also TA 2inch headers that cost $300.00 as to other cars having over $1000.00 in custom headers.I don't even have an evacuator valve.Got to save some $ to get some of this stuff.BrunoD.
