Just this past year I switched to 30 X 10.5 Hoosier Radial slick. I ran my best with them, but I struggled all year to get the car to hook. As you said Jeff, they are very inconsistant especially with the trans brake. They really seemed to only hook when the track was "great" and not just OK. I'm thinking of going back to a bias slick, but something similar in size.
    Good luck to you.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but alot has happened since we left off. I went to the Gainesville BOPC race in Gainesville in December. On the very first pass it didn't sound right. As I crossed the line I looked down and saw the oil pressure gauge at about 10 psi. Uh oh! Stupid me decided to drive it back to the trailer with 10 psi oil press. To keep it short, it blew both head gaskets, put water in the oil, and it was all over. I think I had dropped the distributor in, got it close, and then forgot to set it exactly. So, I bet it had a ton of timing in it. Too big of a hurry is a bad mistake!

I took it to Scotty G. for a rebuild. He had to turn the crank .010 more, but basically just cleaned it up and put rings, bearings, and gaskets in it. BTW, Mike T. put his teflon coated cam bearings in it in 2003. Scotty said they looked great! Good testimonial, huh?

Anyways, the motor is back in the car now. I went to start it the first time last Saturday, and the braided lines started gushing fuel. So, I had to replace all of the fuel lines. They do go bad after a few years! Needless to say, I haven't been to the track, yet.

And, yes, the car is still for sale. But, I'm not giving it away, and the economy isn't letting people buy cars right now. I'll wait for the right time.

    Have fun.
