I dont know what made me think of this, and I havent thought of it in many years but, it was back in 1989 and I had just started dating this great looking blonde I met at a local hot spot. (Actually it was kind of a dare, A buddy of mine and I were out on the town and I remarked how she was way out of our league and he dared me to ask her out, and she said yes!) Anyway, she drove a 1976 Camaro with a stock 305 and she thought she had the fastest thing on 4 wheels. One night we were talking about cruising and street racing and she made some comments about my 69 Electra that werent flattering. I had already put in a racing cam, modified and ported the intake, and ran dual 2 exhaust, and modified the transmission. I took her out to her favorite place to street race and told her to pick a car, any car and I will beat it. She laughed and gave me a little speech about how it was cute that I thought I had a fast car just because it was old, and then she picked a car she knew was real fast because it ran about even with her car. I pulled up next to it, she yelled something to the guy and he went for it. I dropped the column shift into low at 30mph and of course the Rochester opened up with that sound, I hit second gear at 50mph and was already way ahead so I backed off. She just about crapped in her pants. Then for the next 4 or 5 hours she kept pointing out cars and I kept shutting them down. That was a blast. I asked her if we should bolt an old 430 into her car and all she could say was No way! First time I hit the gas Id flip it up onto its roof! She never made a condescending remark about that car ever again. Now this was the late 80s so there really werent any fast cars out there at the time. If you had something that went in the 12s you were a legend, Or, a 12 sec car then is what a 10 sec car is today.
you were doing roll on kills against 305's? jeezus man, the least you can do is leave from a stop light ... at least that way they'd think they were in the race. you so bad. :spank: :grin:
