Does anyone have a picture of the 75-76 valve covers that allow you to not have to cut up your heater box.

    Thanks,
    Dan

Its alright, I just cut the box because it wasn't just tight, the cover protrudes into the box! I don't know if everyone else moves their mounts on the frame or what but there was no way on Earth that my valve cover was just gonna fit tight.

why wouldnt it fit? the 350 is just the 3.8 with 2 cylenders added on the front. i did my buddies 77 with no problem and i am about to do an 81 i just picked up. im just curious. im not doubting you i just want to know before i dive in to this one. my buick 455 didnt have a chance in hell of fitting before i took out box, but my 85 with the olds 455 fit without touching the box.

I donno, I've read everywhere that its just tight however, when I put the motor in it would not go with out a hole in the box. I took a pic of the valve cover protruding into my box so its not just that I don't like how tight it was. The only thing I can think is that the previous owner may have moved the mounts back on the cradle but he was an 85 year old man.....

BTW I have a heater only box and a 70 buick 350 with the stock valve covers. I used a chevy G-Body box maybe that has something different then the Buick I'm not sure.

I ended up cutting a hole in it for relief as suggested by another member, then I took some sheet metal from an air duct and molded it into a half box shape. Im going to use epoxy or something similar to permanately attach it. This allows me to remove and put on any sized buick valve cover I ever want no problem.

Pictures are hard to tell how much it goes into the box but if you saw it in person you'd see.

This PIC is not with the cover mounted but it still goes into the box the same amount.
