Richard Wettingfeld's "Tons o' Fun" is in the background of the the pic of Keith Smith's car in post #125, page 7. One of the very few cars to arrive on a trailer!!!! Sorry, couldn't find any actual pics of the car in my "archives." :)

I am going to say, this is my car, back when Keith Hall would drive from Texas in his '71 GS, race, and drive it home.
My car had the body side molding when I purchased it. The zoomed in picture, can see the trunk and qtr extension trim. White interior.

In 86 we didn't use our member numbers on the cars. They numbered the cars when we went through tech. On page 9 post #168 my GSX has #6 on it, my GSCA # was 298.

Not sure Tony is on here but he is on Facebook. We were talking a few years ago about trying to set up a display at the Nationals where people could bring their photo albums from back in the day for everyone to see. Kind of like this thread!

I haven't been on V8 Buick in years but happened to see the 70 prototype on BJ auction this weekend and did a google search and ended up here. Here's my GS Nats story

When I was a soph at Ohio State in 1983, my grandparents gave me $300 to buy a car. I ended up with a 67 Riv GS, complete with star wars air cleaner. Started going to some late night cruise in's at Jerry's Drive In in N Columbus about a year later and met Brad Conley, he would drive into town on occasion with his X.
In 1985(?) I drove my S-10 pickup to Bowling Green to see what all the hype was about. I had no place to stay and only knew Brad. Ended up drinking the evening away with Brad and some Buick engineers, one thing led to another and we ended up walking down to Uncle Sams Titty City to finish off the evening. I managed to pull my S-10 across the street from the Holidome and spent the night in the bed of the truck. I remember the Buick engineers had a GN running around 14.0, the intercooled GN hadn't hit the market yet. Anyhow, I was hooked.

Within a year I was working at Jeg's and bought a 70 GS 455 conv. In 1987(?), Jim Jones and I drove that conv to Beach Bend, raced it all weekend and drove it home. My best run was coincidentally 13.38 lol. I had Southside Machine build up a mild engine for it.

I think in 1988, we trailered Jim's 70 X down there, maybe that was a couple of years later.

In 1989 I trailered my 72 Electra down there, it had a nice engine and ended up in a picture in Car Review 's magazine coverage of the event. I ended up driving my Electra home after Norm Dihle blew his engine all over the freeway and we used my trailer to get his car back to Detroit. BTW- My Electra eventually made a pass later that year at 11.80 on nitrous just as it pushed out a head gasket lol.

Made multiple trips to GS Nats in the years that followed, I've gone on long enough though.

Thanks for the thread, it was great going thru it! -Trey Musgrove

I drove "Shang" round trip, (in 1984), without a trailer also. Just a little 300 SBB, Super Turbine 300 with a Switch Pitch converter, along with 430:1 rear. Each way was a 1,000 mile plus trip. With no radio, heater, cellphone, or GPS..........I can still recall hearing all the un-muffled sounds of engine, electric fuel pump, & rear gear howl. Meeting Jim Bell & having Shangri-La being selected as his pick for "Car of the Month", in K-B's Buick News monthly newsletter was a bonus. Rick Martinez & Johnny Csordas came upon me driving somewhere on Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania. Good times!!
