Rick, you TEASE! I may concider the used Roller cam, I have a friend back in your home area that grinds cams and mybe can redo the profile if necessary. But no rush, keep me in mind. Hope all is well with you. Gary Giessen
I don't think either cam can be reground. My first and current cam was suppose to be new from TA but it was a regrind and its alreadty down to the base circle. :af: My other cam was suppose to be a new cam but it got mixed up somewhere changing hands and I ended up with a used cam and it got ground before I could stop it. It is a great grind that will work great with nitrous or a blower and it the same cam I am going to use, it has .425 lobe lift verses .455. It would work for someone who has standard roller rockers and can't fit a large spring. I paid $300 for a cam to be designed and ground for a 464 Stg3, single Dominator, Nitrous, step header, 11.6 comp., and alot of other specific info. It is suppose to be a Max-Effort motor cam that response well to nitrous.
Cam sizes Used cam specs - 268/275 .398/.400(lobe lift).677/.680 w/1.7 108LC -$200 New cam - 262/279 .719/.678" w/1.7 112LC-tight lash cam. This cam was designed for MY motor. Stg3-350/272 flow @.700, 464. Recommended stall-5000-5500 with nitrous ON. 7000-7200 shift point. 7400-7600 trap rpm(max rpm). This is designed to be used with 1.7 rockers. Subtract 200-400 rpm for lower ratio rockers. -$349 (paid $300 alone just for the grind and design, this is a custom cam) GARY this would be the cam I would recommend for you. Its still in the box at the shop. If the springs still check good, I'll toss them in cheep too. I'm not a tease, I'm a hoe! All it takes is a little money and its yours! :Brow:
Radiator Whats the deal with the radiator is it stock location/stock hose set up? if it is put me first in line Thanks
I think Rick is back in the Middle East. Before he left he told me that the dish he once shared over there with some others was no longer available. So he may not be able to log on as frequently as when he was there before. I think he may return early spring but his spouse is here. I hope to see his wagon and the TA wagon go head to head at the BPG in Salem (August 2005).
By Middle East did you mean Armed Forces? I stumbled across this thread earlier and sent him a PM about the radiator. I didn't pay attention to the last time he had posted on the site. He's got more important things to take care of now. Stay safe Rick. :TU: :TU: :TU:
I hear ya! I got all your messages. Todd got first dibs on the radiator w/fan. The radiator is a universal fit A-body radiator 29x19", I think with stock location in/out. I had to make a aluminum hold down for it since it was touch shorter and narrower than stock but fit fine. It kept her cool. I'm an aircraft mechanic working on AH-64A helicopters in Iraq. Its were all the action is. :blast: I have to get up with my friend back home to see if he can help me out with shipping this stuff.
Still have the roller lifters? Are these a drop in with different pushrods? If not, what type of machine work is necessary? Thanks, Mark
Roller lifters Yes the lifters are a drop in but you need a girdle to make sure to keep the lifter bores from breaking out. I tried the bonded in type. They lasted until the last time I pulled the motor down. All the plates but one were broken loose and one was in the back of the lifter galley. So It a gamble to go with anything but the TA bar support. They are spoken for at the moment but I am keeping a list. Once I get hepl to get them together to get shipped, I will start at the top of my list and work down. I will let you know once they are sold.
Dave, I've got my name in on the wheels right now. I'm just waiting on his return, as I'm not yet rushed to need them.
