    I'm speechless...

    such power.

I'm not a religious person by any means, but I was moved by this movie. Yeah, I know it was just a movie, but I don't find myself reading scripture in my spare time...so this is as close as I get, unfortunately. It took a lot of my control to keep from totally weeping when we were watching the movie.

It definitely made me think about some things.

    Anyone else see it yet?

Haven't seen it yet, but I will soon I hope. There is a little creative license in the film I've read. So I caution If any scene has moved you a great deal, to check it out in the bible as well. And remember, the physical abuse was the minor part of Jesus' torment. He had taken every sin that was and would be and became it! Every horrid dispicable perverse etc, crime ever commited was in him when he did this!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And all the glory available when we die is ours for FREE if we believe and trust what he did for us!!!! I like free stuff!!!!! And this is as good as it gets!!!!!!!

Just saw it last night... my girlfriend and the lady beside me were crying. It was moving indeed. There were some moments when I just thought of what I have done (and, sometimes, haven't done), and that Jesus would still go through that for me. Like Adam, it took some to keep me from weeping.

    Thank you Jesus!!

I have not seen the movie yet but from what I have heard the movie contains the death, burial, and ressurection of Jesus Christ and friends that is the gospel!!!! 1Corinthians15:1)Moreover,brethren,I declare unto you the gospel vs3)how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures Also see Romans1:16) For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth The gospel is what God uses to save and that is by HIS POWER.I hope that God may inpower the gospel presented in this movie to save some souls that perhaps have not been going to hear the gospel in church services. But if anyone sees the gospel presented in this movie and believes I hope they realize what a price they were bought with, the death, burial, resurrection of our saviour Jesus Christ and they join themselves to one of his assemblies and are faithful in supporting and attending the services which is only your reasonable duty and his command as well.Besides I can assure you that you will not find Hollywood presenting you with many movies sharing the gospel if fact just the oppisite they oppose the gospel of Christ.

Adam.. I was tempted to look at this pole before I saw the movie today but thought it best to save it till afterwards. In a word..Amazing. It actually made me take into account all the "things" I've done and felt it brought me closer to God. I think it's the perfect time for this movie and it probably couldn't have found me at a better time.< and if any of you know me I never talk like this.
Also... has anyone heard of those rumors about the set of this movie getting struck repeatedly by lightning during filming? From what I heard it happened more than twice some days. My boyfriends dad was telling me tonight that the actor that played Jesus was on Jay Leno the other night and said that he wore some sort of a metal plate to seperate him from the "tools" that were used to beat him in those scenes. (obviously, so he wouldnt get hurt and in order to make it more 'real') well he said more than once just the leather came around that plate onto his side/stomach and he almost passed out just from that happening. Imagine the real thing...

Yup, Adam, it's not a movie, it's an experience. Linda and I went Friday night, and were totally blown away!

I never understood the use of the term "Passion" regarding Christ's crucifixion (passion play, etc...) but now I understand...the Incredible Love that God showed by sending His son, so that He could be beaten, vilified, tortured, and executed in the most horrible way - at the hands of the very ones He came to be a living sacrifice for! Amazing Love...

One question, though - in the scene where Jesus is being scourged, Satan is holding a "baby". What's up with that? Who/what is the "baby" supposed to be?

All in all, quite an experience, and I think that those who have been criticizing it for the last year ought to be ashamed of themselves. But then again, I think Hollywood ought to be ashamed of itself, too!

I saw the movie with my wife and about 100 people from our church, afterwards we met at church and talked about it some. It it the single most powerful thing that I have ever seen. I know the bible stories pretty well, but the first thing I did when I got home was dust off the Bible and read all the gospels depiction of the last hours of Jesus's life here on earth. I was totally amazed at the accuracy, as far as I can tell, to the Bible. Especially the book of John. I would encourage all who have not seen it to read John's account of the crucifixion before seeing this movie. I thought the voilence was a little extreme, but then when reading about the Roman customs of flogging, it could have very well been that gruesome. I just hope that people are able to see this movie as not just a movie, but a true depiction of Jesus's ultimate sacrafice for us, sinners.

Truly the most amazing thing that has ever been put on the big screen and I thank Mel Gibson for his willingness to take on the verbal bashing and portray what he believes. I think he did an awesome job and am grateful, he has made me more thankful for Jesus's sacrafice and I have been spiratually moved and worship will never be the same......

As far as the Devil (woman) and the small child, definately creepy, but we were wondering if it was a depiction of the devil and her son in contrast to the Lord and His Son Jesus?

Thanks for all the great comments, truly amazed at the impact this movie is having on people, can only be a good thing happening here!

I saw it on Friday night with my wife and didn't want to talk for the rest of the night. I awoke Saturday morning in the same mindset. I took a very long drive with one of my children and came out of it.

It was riveting and devistating. I was getting angry when he was being beaten, which quickly turned to shame, as he was being beaten for ME, for MY sin. I am the reason he was so abused.

I have to see the film again. It was so brutal, yet beautiful, the sacrifice He made for man.

    Hi all,
I am new to the Buick scene, but not new to the Christ scene.:TU:I too have seen the Passion, and weeped through 3/4 of the movie.
In the Bible,it says they beat Him beyond recognition. The scene in which they were beating Him,all I could think about was that couldn't have been even a 1/4 of the abuse they gave Jesus. It was chilling to even think that.It definitely makes you think about what Jesus did for us.
As for the lightning,a gentleman whom I went to the movie with had done some searching. Here are a few tidbits,:Smarty:
The actor portraying Christ WAS hit by lightning while up on the cross.
He WAS hit with the whips causing a 14" gash in his back.
The 2 lead Sound Engineers quit their jobs at Sony, just so they could work on this project, and one recommitted his life to Christ.
About satan and the baby,I was told what it was about, but have forgotten.

Anyway, hope to learn alot from some brothers and sisters on this board who also happen to enjoy their rides.

We were suppose to go with the church Sunday night, but didn't get back from out of town in time.
While we already planned on making it to another showing, reading everyone's comments here just reinforces the desire to go.

I posted my thoughts and observations about The Passion in the other thread.

Very powerful movie and more accurate than many would like to think about. Sure, there were a couple of scenes that were 'creative interpretation'....but the vast majority of the movie was spot on!!

Not only will this be a great movie experience, the DVD will be tops on the 'must have' list. The making of the film had some really incredible moments - I saw alot of that on TBN before I saw the movie. The actor James Caviezel went thru an extraordinary set of circumstances to play the part of Jesus.....physical pain, bitter cold temps, getting struck by lightning on the cross while shooting, etc. He said constant prayer was the only thing to get him thru it all.:TU:
