The questions I have are about a 1970 Buick Skylark 4 door Im looking at possibly purchasing. The owner is currently consulting his financial advisor(wife) so I havent recieved an answer as to what the guy is willing to take for the car,but if everything turns out id like to know the following if its not too much trouble to ask.My wife has a 71 Olds Cutlass Supreme I know some of the stuff from this 70 Buick will fit on my wifes Oldsmobile. Question 1) What specific parts from the 70 Skylark 4 door will interchange with a 2 door? Question 2) What parts off the 4 door may be desireable to owners of both 2 and 4 door cars. Question 3) What parts off the 1970 4 door are 1970 Skylark only parts and what parts will fit 1970-1972 Skylarks Question 4) Does anyone reproduce front doghouse parts for 1970 Buick Skylarks? Thanks in advance
1. The 4 dr is good for the front clip, trunk lid, bumpers, dash parts, suspension, drivertrain, etc. Rest of car....doors, seats, frame, windshield, etc will not work in a 2dr. 2. Front clip is most desirable along with bumpers, dash parts/pieces. 3. Specific 70 parts are: gas tank, front and rear bumper set-ups, grill, headlight bezles, hood lip trim. All other parts will interchange. 4. No repro front clip parts Also, nothing will basically work on your 71 Cutlass except chassis parts and some minor trim parts like wiper arms, wiper motor, ac firewall box, master cylinder, power booster.
How about the rear glass(not the rear door glass) on the 4 door,is that 4 door specific only. And how about the seats, the bench seat front or rear wont fit a 2 door? Are floor pans different for 2 and 4 door cars, how about the trunk pan How desireable would the front disc brake setup be on this 70 4 door Skylark? Ive heard the Radiator core support is pretty tough to find...True? How difficult is it to remove, does it come off with the front clip as an assembly,or is it seperate?
Rear glass window same as the 2 dr. Seats will not work.....front will fit but you need to have the capability for the seat to fold forward in order to access the rear seat.....4dr front bench is a fixed back seat. Floor pans are different since the 4dr has a longer wheelbase 116" vs 112" for the 2dr. Trunk pan is the same.....not worth your time and effort to remove it since you can buy new ones for $100 Disc brake set-up always in demand....that is part of the front clip.....basically everything from the firewall forward is useable..including chassis components. Core support is always in demand provided under battery area is not completely rusted away....if so, www.mrbuick.com sells a patch kit for it. The support is bolted to the fenders, fenderwells and frame....easy to remove.
Ok ok I get the whole seat thing now, never even considered the fact that the 4 door seat was in a fixed position. I appreciate the info. Im hoping this deal goes through. I may have more questions. Thanks again
Well I stand corrected, the car is actually a 1972 Skylark, and has Drum brakes on all 4 corners(bummer) anyway heres what it looks like.
Since the car is a 72.....get the 8.5" rear.....rest of car looks good for trim parts. Lower front A-arms are in demand also.
