Pardon my french " damn rear tailgate "

I have a 91 rmw and the rear window won't open , when i push either open button outside & in nothing happens . i'm assuming theres no power going to the solienod in the back door. I tried to open the door with my trunk key and no dice ,so i come to the people that know. Now is there any way short of smashing out the rear glass to get the door open.Could the switch on the dash be giving me grief, does it over ride the rear button . everything was good up to acouple of days ago .My friend opened the tailgate & closed it after that no go. Ive tried pushing on the rear door just in case it wasn't closed tight still no go . The relay in the fuse box is brand new(checked the continuity) so thats ok.In my older wagons the wiring usually buggers up in the the door hinge but they opened with a handle so no problem. So any one got any ideas. I'm on the road on s/ds so i wont be able to reply for a wk or two. As always thanks for any info in advance . Later bake

    69GS400s ...my own amusement ride!

The window has a lock-popper that is activated by either the dash switch or pushing in the lock on the gate ... and lastly by the remote. Additionally, the key can be used to manually unlock the glass. If both electronical and mechanical methods are failing, I'm going to wager that a rod attached to the lock mechanism is disturbed.

Can you hear the popper activate when you push either the dash button, gate lock, or remote ??

what exactly happens when you use the key and try turning ? The key does two things - it unlocks the gate door lock as well as popping the glass lock. Use the door unlock button to unlock the gate lock so there is less "stress" while trying to turn the key.

Just got home from work , when i try the key it feels like it wants to grab but no dice . The tail gate locks & unlocks with the key just finebut the solienoid makes no sound either with the outside button or the dash button. Iamgoing to see if i can get at the latch through the third light to get the glass & tg seperated then try to fix the mystery in the door. As always thanks for the info.Later bake
