    Joe:

Ever hear of aluminum heads for a 64 Buick 300? I'm not sure what that even is, but a guy asked me to ask around this site. Not sure why he asked me since he's on this site also. Must be an "old guy" thing.

Here's some of his words to me:

Very "ruff" casting's. Cast # Under center exhuast port : CDF 1358219 under that, 19 PM. Viewed from the top...First port, "A". Second "219" Third, "B". Fourth, "1". (Intake ports...under the covers) NO, Other #'s anywhere...told they were early '64 only.

Casting # under the center exhaust ports CFD 135821 under that 2 OP. All #'s on top...same. They both appear to be...sand-cast. Please...Share this info with the Buick crowd. (Takes...forever...for me to log-on...to that site...I could cook dinner and do my laundry and take a shower...FASTER) "65 SKY" @ V-8 Buick.com.

    ???????? Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Dave in 64 only a high compression 300 cid motor "Wildcat 375" was made with aluminum heads and intake. Mike Lynch on this Board has one for sale. His came from a La Sabre.

In 1964 the "A" body Buick was made larger. The 215 aluminum engine was not considered sufficient to move it . The aluminum block was expensive to produce , so the next logical move was a 300 CI cast iron block with aluminum heads and intake. They did this only for the 64 model year, and then went to an all cast iron engine for 1965. It was offered in a 9to1 2BBL and a 11to1 4BBL version

    I thought I saw a Puddy Kat!

I just got my MCE today and yes they had Dave in there. But I must say, he was not smiling!.. Looked as if he was having to hand over cash! I guess that that would make anyone grumpy!.

I have to admit, it takes a set of brass ones to be showing up with your small block wear a 'Got Torque?" t-shirt. I am sure that my wife will have to get me into a shrink when I have you and Casey listed as 2 of my heroes!

????????? Haven't seen it yet. Can't recall being upset that day.

    Rusty:

Don't need massive amounts of torque on these tires.

You should see this thing come out of the hole now. I'm pretty happy with the way it launches (1.90 60 footers), so hopefully the new valve springs will get the top end back. I'm giving up almost 1000 RPM right now (car is nosing down at 5200, shifting at 5600). Ran a 13.81 in the final round at Stanton, there's lots left in it.
