Andy (aka 70Lark) sent me this one .... http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/0/3/85363703.htm I talked to the owner ...he seemed very honest and straightforward about the car....been painted once ..decals are faded ..runs good..t-tops leak(they almost all do) and floors have been patched up(bcs of t-top leak most likely) few dings and very small small area of rust ...black interior in good condition.... seems it needs better paint and fresh decals/stickers put back on ....myself my timing is all wrong bcs of ongoing project and other cars taking up parking at home.......otherwise i would jump on this btw ..where is that Canadian fella that took mine away...I bet he wouldnt hesitate on this one...
Compared to the one that's for sale here in Edmonton, that's a good price. The one here has a price on it at around $24,000. But, then, every car on his lot is priced very high. This Buick appears very nice, but I didn't walk up to it. John C
Hey Rexer I've been watching this car for 3 weeks now.....the wife wants her own Pace Car..... ou: Still not sure if I'll pull the trigger....but I'm thinking about it...
there you are ... the seller seems like an honest guy about the car....If I didnt have my project and space and college payments the car would be in my garage weeks ago.... the only thing that bugs me is that it has a 2v carb...doese that jive?..you might know about that..seems you are more schooled in these pace cars... oh and btw...the seller mentioned to me what car # it was ... :eek2: :eek2: I asked him how he knew the # of car and he said that there is a # behind the rearview mirror that designates car #......do you know anything about that.?? bcs I sure didnt.... ou: btw did you do that 455 thingy..??
First of all...when I talked to Andy @ Sloan he didn't know how to tell which # the car is and I know a couple of other guys who have 1 and they never have mentioned it to me....but I will now ask them. California got 2v on there Pace cars !.... :Smarty: As for the 455...no, I never touched the motor this year. It got put on the back burn as we used our boat more this year. If you are talking to that guy again , ask him to take a picture of it and send it to me...Thanks Long live the Buick heartbeat ! Iceman... :beer
Pace Car I drove to Conneaut tonight after work to look at the Pace Car and bought it. It's in very good condition needing some floor and interior work but it's all there and correct. The guys father bought it new so it's been in the family until now. When I get it home I'll take some pics and post them. A big thanks to rex362 for posting this thread.
Congrats.... :beer If you have any questions about the car let me know... :TU: Take lots of pictures Iceman PS.....I'll fix that :blast: Rex guy later..... ........
Cars No Phil, just 2 at the moment. I've wanted a Pace Car for a long time but there aren't many out there for sale so I had to jump on this one. Iceman, thanks. I'm sure I'll need some assistance when I start getting into it. Keep me informed on the repro decal kit project. We have a graphics dept at work so I might have them look at it as well just to see if it's possible to reproduce. One thing I noticed your car has that mine doesn't is the Indy Wings on the seat headrests. I've seen other Pace Cars with and without. Do you know why?
Hey Congrats...... :TU: :TU: pics when you get a chance.... btw Glen....what can you tell us about that # on the rearview mirror that the seller was telling me about...did he fill you in on that? ........................ sorry Canada..... but you cant have all the pace cars.... :beer sleeping on the job there.... :spank:
Frank, The car does have "#87" on the front side of the rearview mirror (facing windshield). The numbers are in white and are aprox 1.5-2 in in height. The owner said the number has been there since new and he always assumed it was a sequential number of the 1200 built. That is as much as we know. I'll be contacting Sloan soon to get any documentation the have. The car is pretty loaded with power windows, power bucket seat, tilt, cruise, A/C and a 2bl carburetor. He said it's always had a 2bl carb, nothing has been changed. He also mentioned that he and his wife drove the car to their prom in 1980. It belonged to his father at that time. Interesting stuff!!
ya ya the guy is honest, however why is it pace cars are generally underpowered and kinda ugly? especailly this one. Sorry guys. It looks like a acid trip from a reserve.
Wtf Underpowered and ugly maybe, but you do realize this car would most likely beat every car you own in your signature and look better doing it!
I'd be glad to have it in my garage. Lighten up, if you feel like Buick bashing, take it somewhere else, your in the wrong place
I suppose I had it coming writing somthing like that on a thread about a car that only mother could love....I guess I've liked a couple ugly cars before. Look better doing it though? I will give you this though, Maybe I shouldnt have made the crack about the acid trip....obviously hit a nerve. Maybe not the right thread for a joke.
THIS IS UGLY ???? ou: ou: ou: ou: CANT TOUCH THIS!.....  ou:  I think its bsc they want all the pace cars up in Canada...
Alright, I formally appolagize to the masses, and will save any jokes for another time. I should used the term attractivly challenged. For a time when smog controls were at its worst, buick still managed to put together a car that stood out and was different from the rest. 'Nough said.
