I have a GS 4 speed and a 4:10 gear. I hate to change the gear since it did come with the original car. I wanting to install a GearVendor overdrive. Has anyone tried this in their GS? Bob
You can have an overdrive gear ratio put in your Muncie 4th gear. Another option is the new 5 speed trans which is a direct fit. It costs about what a gear vendors OD would cost.
I considered a 5 or 6 speed. And their overdrives are more favorable also, but..the shifter comes out the center of the transmission instead of the left side. I would have to modify my floor board and iM not willing to do that. Gear vendors does build the overdrive for the Muncie 4 speed. It replaces the existing tail housing. Your right about the price, they are about equal. The transmission is actually cheaper, but you have to replace the bell housing also and that brings them to equal amounts. And I'm just not sure about the new transmissions...I like to bang gears. I'm not sure the new stuff will stay together like a good old Muncie
Bob I believe your information is out of date. The new trans eliminates the need for any floor modifications. We have a thread on this. http://www.keislerauto.com/Keisler_Auto/HomePage.html This 4 speed Muncie will also give you some relief: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=233403
