Olds 350 or 403 is a direct swap. You can squeeze a 455 in with a little more work.

Mmmm... 455... Go for it. Darth wouldn't settle for less against the Force.

This is a friends' car like you describe that is a real 83 Hurst Olds. He also likes the blackout look, so didn't put the entire kit on it. Dan has many Oldsmobiles and is a regular bracket racer at Gainesville, FL,.. This 83 has a 403 in it and runs 12.64 consistently. Dan's wife drove it in the BOP race a coupla weeks ago and took runner up. Dan also has a 69 Hurst and an 84 Hurst that he races as well as a string of 66 and 68 442's.

Not sure what you plan to do with the car, but we're putting a 403 in this 85 442 this summer. 455's will fit, but a bolt-in requires that you remove the A/C box and everything is very tight.

A and B dimensions are only different between the 350 (small block) and the 455 (big block) due to the water pump snout length and the appropriate pulleys to be compatible with that. When you switch from a small block to a big block on the Olds, use all the front end accessory, brackets, etc. from the car (small block) on the big block and all bots up fine. Will need new belts due to taller height and width. Olds V8 engines from 1964 to 1988 are all identical from the centerline of the cam down externally all the way from a 260 to a 455.
