Simple question, but since a quick search didn't find it... I have here an '87 Regal with its original Olds 307. My plan is to put in a Buick 350. Right now I'm trying to gather all the needed parts before I rip into it. I know the Buick 350 is supposed to be a drop-in replacement for the 3.8 V6. But, since that's not where I'm starting, what I need to know is... 1) What "upper" motor mounts will I need? (The 350 still has mounts from the '70 Skylark it came out of. Should I be ordering and swapping on Buick V6 mounts?) 2) What "lower" mounts will I need? (15yrs ago I did a 3.8 to Olds 307 swap in a Regal... been too long, but I seem to recall the Olds and Buick motors used different frame pads. True? If so, is there a source for reasonably priced Buick ones, aside from lucking into a junkyard car with the motor already pulled?) Thanks! --Keith
Hi keith, easy swap i did it once in a 80s regal that had a 307. I removed it, and the engine frame pads and swapped in 3.8 buick v6 frame pads and then bolted in a buick 350 using v6 engine mounts. Electric fan and a nitrous shot and it was a lot of fun... Used a 6 speed tremec after the th350 failed and it was a fun car.
Swapped my 3.8 to a 350, V6 out, 350 in. As sean said you'll need to located 3.8 frame pads. I used 3.8 mounts as well. Worked great.
