Got these two photos in from a guy restoring another 68 Hurst that was a race car years back. The accident happened a few years back, but I had only seen photos of it after they stripped off the damaged stuff. Squeeze sent me pics from Musclepalooza, where it showed up for some reason....??? I thought the car was on the Left Coast in Washington or Oregon. Anyhow, sure makes you think twice about fooling around on the street with these things.
....and you learn something new every day......... Driver: Lynn Welfringer is the guy that bought Mondello's business (all except the head porting school, I understand)....and is running it into the ground. Wonder if he was the driver when this happened? I understand the car was sold, then was taken out for one last blast before delivery................. o No: o No: Anybody know the details?
LIB, amazing what you find on Google http://www.barrettjackson.com/auctionresults/common/cardetail.asp?id=15668 Wonder what that car would have gone for in today's market (before the wreck of course) Guess that answers when Lynn Welfringer drove the car. Wonder who wrecked it?
That pic was taken in Las Vegas or Phoenix, I forgot which, there was talk of this on the Supercar website... I think some BIG players on there went and checked it out. JH
68 Hurst olds That car was restored by Derrel Farmer of Portland Oregon. He sold the car at Barrett Jackson and I heard that the person or persons who bought it were unaware thay had purchased the car. Seems they had spent too much time in the Hagerty hospitality tent. The last known owner of the car was Kevin Suydam of Seattle Wa. Kevin staed he was prepared to sell the car as he had acquired a restored 68 Hurst Olds.
Wow, Thanks, Rob. Read every word, appreciate it much. Your site is fabulous! Kinda curious why this thing ended up on the other side of the world (NY) at Musclepalooza and what's going on with it now. Anybody know? I've sold a couple of solid, pretty nice 68 Cutlass/442 HT rollers to a collector in New Hampshire.............. Noell Drach, you getting all of this? You've got another of these old legends! :TU:
those pics make me sick. thats a crying shame. all the more reason to build small block clones as daily drivers. thats just sad. i saw a beautiful white 69 ? 442 today too. it will probably be for sale soon. if anyone is really interested i think i can find out.
Reading the thread on Supercars, apparently Suydam still bought the car. What is the story with it now? Has it been fixed? For sale? What's the whole story with the car? One of the first 7. Ok. Apparently won something like 90% of it's races? I'd like to hear some more history if anyone knows it. If it's still "bent" I have a bodyshop to fix it in. Todd
