So I bought a new timing chain cover and I need to build the pump. I went and saw the recommendations TA puts out for a stock oil pump rebuild, which is a stock rebuild kit, shim assortment, booster plate, and adjustable oil regulator.

my question is, the gears and non modified booster plate appear to be made by Melling, do you guys agree?

I want to know what springs people are using for a similar build like mine, TA says 10psi for every 1000 rpm. So what’s a good starting spring? And why are there so many springs with the kit? What’s the factor that makes people use different springs? Desired oil pressure? Wear? Racing?

Buick 455 with solid roller cam setup, used for street use, but I will be getting on it.

    Thanks everyone

There is a newer style oil pump cover that uses shorter springs. Using the white spring in those covers will lock the oil pump relief valve shut. See Mike T's comments in my linked thread.

For the Buick 455, you want to see 11-12 psi per 1000 RPM. Read Mike T's comments about the springs and cover styles. There are pictures as well.

    SOLID roller?
