Believe or not Im still using AC filters, seems to be ok now, maybe I was getting "junk" AC filters years ago, Im not sure. I used to buy AC PF 24 filters at Walmart, they dont carry AC any more, neither does Advance Auto Parts. The PF 24 filter is getting tough to get, which makes me kinda leary about the quality. Im going to start using Wix or Purolator. OR just bite the bullet and get the System 1 filter and be done with it.
Yes, I still had great pressure without the oil going thru the filter, it all bypassed thru the valve in the filter housing/pump cover.

I have AC filters with no issues, but I bought them around 1989... I guess I have a half a dozen left, I use the HD filter magnet with them. I also have a system one I have yet to install. I guess I should decide which I'm going to use and sell the rest...:Do No:

Still strange that the oilfilter, (lowest point) drains totaly empty.

I would go by the sound... If there is only a light lifter tick on startup and it goes away quickly then call it good as long as you get good oil pressure quickly... Even my brand new car makes a slight lifter tick for a second or two when started after sitting, I am not worried it goes away right away...

If all it does is takes a few seconds to build pressure and you have no issues with pressure at any other time than startup, dont worry about it. If it makes you feel better, both my car and our X takes a few seconds to build pressure. The X will go from 0 to 80 psi in about 7 or 8 seconds (a little faster once its warm) and it runs low 12's at the track and we've never had an issue. Oil is thick and wont instantaneously be at full pressure, especially if its a thick oil or cold. If you hear no noise and cant find any excessive amounts of metal particles in the oil then everything should be alright. Your oil pump could be a little worn and the tolerances could be a little loose too. Just start 'er up and let it idle for a few seconds. Just a suggestion if we cant find anything wrong with the oil filters :pp :3gears:

If the car sits long enough, all oil filters will drain oil out till they are empty. I have proved this time and time again. Does not matter how much you pay for them, what brand they are, they all leak down. That rubbber seal has not pressure behind it, you can take a small rod and push through the oil filter hole and lift the seal up, so eventually oil will seep past it. Now, some may seal longer than others, but they all will allow oil to pass. I guess they feel we should drive the cars daily, if this is the case then some filters will satisfy that requirement.
Let your car sit for 2 or 3 days and unscrew the filter, I bet no oil or very little comes running out. Most people start the engine to move the car first, then of course oil will leak out the filter.

Yes Recardo, you'r right, but I dont understand why this is possible by a Buick design engine.
The oilfilter is the lowest point, the oil gallery to the camshaft and the oil pickup gallery are
    at a higher level.
So how is it possible the filter drain empty.

    Regards.
