Sorry I won't be making the trip, but you can stop by and say hi to some friends of mine. Rusty Patterson is bringing his '72 Cutlass wagon that he just restored. It was run by the "Go Shop" in Lansing, MI and held the SS/QA record for '73 and '74. Never hurts to have a little back door support.:Brow: Bill Cunningham has a sweet '71 442 convertable in Viking Blue and some of my H/O friends will be up there. Have a great time and if you see any bargains, you must be at the wrong place!:Dou:

Afraid I won't be making it this year. Great show and time, have a ball. Enjoy all the "new" W cars that seem to "appear" each year.

    Rusty:

Got your message, was up in Cadillac again with no cell service. T-mobile is great as long as you stay on a major interstate. Glad you're going to make Stanton.

That 72 Go Shop wagon is really neat. One of our friends here had it for a few years before selling it back to Ashley Jones in Lansing. He raced it in NMCA and did quite well with it. It was an ugly copper color then.

I'll call your cell John and locate you and Jim. I may be hanging around a friends swap meet space some(Jim Ghedi from Austin)--he's supposed to be towing up a 68 H/O and selling it there--it will be in a space with the car and a Escalade.

Yeah Dave--I heard there will be a whole lot more "W-Cars" there this year :Brow:

I have a feeling we are going to see some ugly parts prices this year...talked to one guy the other day that wanted $4500 for a pair of NOS 69 front fenders:eek2:

It sure is fun having all this attention on things we are enthused about but prices are getting crazy.

Frankly not sure yet, still checking hotels/rates...going up on Wed, have to see a couple customers. Probably staying somewhere in the Bloomington area but not too concerned about it. I'll have a rent car so don't need to be right there. Looking forward to meeting you guys and looking at some nice cars. Ali((Texas442.com-John has emailed or talked with him before), Jim Ghedi also coming up from Austin. I think there are a few from San Antonio also going--Ralph Gaines and another guy I know for sure--Ralph has the OCA concession for Tshirts, etc so he is setting up a booth. Not sure if Murphy, the guy with the ElCamino/442 is going or taking that car but I do know that Ralph is stopping by his place near Dallas on the way up so maybe that car will be in the caravan. The car was profiled this month in a magazine called "Classic and Sport Truck" or something like that.

This 68 H/O may or may not make it up there--the guy is making a couple stops on the way and may or may not sell/trade the car en route. It is supposedly a restored car--have not seen it yet.

All the usual suspects will be there selling parts--Ron Memmer, Bob Peer (WI) and Steve Hemminghouse(hearing he is clearing out all his stuff--has lots of NOS stuff)-- will be fun to go look and gag at the prices.....but then again, if you need it they probably have it. I dealt with Ron a while back on some trim pieces and he gave a damn honest description and shipped quick. These were parts that could have been easily "misdescribed" as they were NOS but with a few shelf scratches that many people never would have mentioned.

I am selling somme 66 442 tail light bezels at the Classic Olds tent owned by Jim Michael who is based in NC.

I need a 66 442 NOS remote side mirror. I have not seen on anywhere. They are not shaped like the manual mirrors now reproed. It has a bullet back side and the manual ones are almost flat.

I called Memmer several times about one and E mailed him but as usual he did not bother to respond.

Yeah--it seems a little odd--I called him last week a number of times--no answer, nothing. Emailed last week-no answer. Finally he answered yesterday and he readily answered questions, etc. Seems like these guys need to refine their communications "networks" a little and they might get a whole lot more business. There are not a lot of businesses where you pretty much name your price and people pay it....usually works the other way..competition hammering down prices.

Well, when you spend your day either pulling parts, sorting parts, cataloging parts, shipping parts, or on the road picking up more parts, I can understand why it's hard to get a hold of Ron. But once you get him, there's no one better to deal with.

A couple years ago he talked about getting more help and even opening a showroom of sorts. But man, how do you find help that would be any good at this kind of stuff? It's one of those businesses that's best staffed by one man. I guess if I were in business for myself I'd rather be good than big.

Steve Hemminghaus is a good guy to do business with, too. I bought my daily-driver '85 442 from him several years ago sight unseen. I'd love to know what he's got squirreled away in storage -- both parts and cars.

Have fun at the Nationals, guys. I'm not making it -- unless one of you has got a tow rig to sell cheap.....

I agree with you Brian--If it were my business I'd try to keep it simple also--start hiring people and there go any profits. He must have to spend A LOT OF TIME going to dig this stuff up + from what he said he has something like 200+ parts cars out there. Lots of ground to cover. Hard to reach but a pretty nice guy to deal with once you reach him. Patton

Ron is a great guy and has everthing you will ever need. Not cheap. He just does not call back people that he does not know . Spend a little cash with him and I will guarantee he will return your call. Just like lawyers. John

    Ron Memmer

Have been dealing with Ron for almost 15 years and have visited his place in Monticello numerous times (talk about a place near nowhere). He is the best. My comment to him on my first trip was that no man deserves to have this much fun in life.

He saved me a few years back when another Olds supplier tried to steal my W31 harmonic balancer from my Ramrod for a resto engine he was doing at the time. I had shipped it to him to be reconditioned and it got "lost" in the UPS shipment.

Ron had an NOS one that was already sold, but talked the buyer out of it and sold it to me to complete my project. $$$$$, you betcha. But he had it.

When mine mysteriously "re-appeared" and I got it back (after intense pressure from a lot of other Oldsmobile friends), Ron took the NOS one back and resold to the original buyer (who had an open order on every NOS W part Ron comes upon). (Jim Stohlman)

There's a name I haven't I heard in a while.............I have friends that know him quite well, he seemed to have gone low-profile since he sold the Olds franchise, my friedn Hot Rod Harry had a wagon he owned, now my friend Marc owns it and its in Texas
http://members.aol.com/hotrodharrys/index72.html this is one of the cars he sold when he sold the franchise

    I hear he has a "few" of the rare '66 W-30 w/ tri-power
