I'm Going to Test n Tune for the first time with the Regal tomorrow night. Just about done with installing the NOS I bought from Ken @ Everyday Perf. The kit came with about 12 different nozzles ranging from 035-065. I read the Elderbrock site and it seems the 035 is 50 hp 045 is 100 HP and 065 is 150hp. Are these to be installed in matching pairs NOS/Fuel or is there a combo that works well together?

Timing. Running locked out at 36. Says to retard 1 - 1.5 degree per 50 HP. is this correct?

Tank heater. Bought a bottle blanket from a board member. I didn't realize it was just on and HOT all the time till it gets switched off. It was cold today and the tank was reading around 6 on the gage and in the red. After running the blanket for 30 Min's it came up to 9 in the small green area. I bought and installed a mechanical spring wound timer like you would use on a fart fan in the house. Wired in line to the blanket. Set it at 10 Min's per each mark on the gage under the "green". Does this sound like a good plan?

    Let me know, Thanks!!

If your air fuels are already perfect then for a 100 hot if you run a 45 nitrous pill I would run a 35 fuel pill and back the timing off to 30 degrees or even 28 depending on compression and octane fuel and as for the bottle heater I woul try to keep the pressures around 950. What setup are you using for fuel enrichment and what's your fuel pressure cause that will play a role in what fuel pill to stick in there to a degree. Also after every pass pull every plug and have a look. And remember. If you have a rev limiter turn it off. If you spin at the line you might bounce off of it before you know it and end up detonating. And don't run it to rich despite popular belief. You will lift ring lands. What fuel pump and line and octane you using?

I forgot to add. When your tuning you could add 1 degree timing per pass.

Fuel enrichment? I have a Holly blue pump and using a single regulator set at 6 psi.1/2 " line to the reg and 3/8 split to the carb and fuel solenoid. I usually burn a mix of 93 and 105 av gas. I was thinking about starting off a few passes just on motor then try it with a 50 shot just to get my feet wet. This will be my first outing with the trans brake and 2 step box. so i don't wanna go crazy. If I can hit my target of 7.50 or a little better I'll be happy. The skylark running the same engine couldn't quite make it. 7.7-7.9 and she was a 100 lbs lighter than this car is. What should I be looking for on the plugs?

Your fuel enrichment is set at 6 psi not flowed. That is the important part about it. And on the plugs you need to look for them to be overheating or peppering little speckles of piston. What's the compression ratio. And I was told by a guy that worked at an oil company and raced to not use av gas with nitrous because its designed to be used at high altitude and you can't get enough oxygen to it. He is running a 275 nitrous radial car running 8.40s so I had no reason to doubt him if your around 9 to 1 I would run some 104 if 10 to 1 I would try 110 and don't use any oxy fuel or it will be to lean

And I don't know how it works with a 2 step and trans brake but unless you have an rpm window switch do not have your rev limiter on after launch and wire it so when the trans brake is on it breaks the circuit to te nitrous other wise your going to blow it up when you put it on the brake and floor it unless your not using a wot switch

Ok I'll type this out again as my great windstream DSL cut out and I lost all that I was working on.... Any way I do have a WOT momentary switch on the carb linkage Its only activated at just before WOT. I wired all the hot leads from the solinoids to the master switch and the grounds through the switch so it fire the nos when fully opend. It worked good!

The night started out good. first few passes were on motor. first pass was running lean and braking up. Found the PVC hose had come off the carb nipple. Fixed that and went again. starving for fuel at wot. Added pressure on the regulator to 7 psi. made a pass and that was better. not fully fized but better. Fooled with it until it was running about the same times as when the engine was in the Lark. Trans brake and 2 step are the cats meow! I was running low 8 and high7 in the 1/8 @ 78 -80 mph with a constant 60' of 1.60 I run out of gear at the 1/8 so theres no reason to run it out and I coast to the end with a 13.01.
Next pass I decide to spray. I've got a 50 shot on it with a 38 fuel nozzle.Backed the timing down to 32. Made a pass and hit 7.52 @ 91mph.. Thats my target number for the index I want to run this yr. I checked the plugs after the run and they looked a little orange. so I added the next size larger fuel nozzle. went out again and the Trans brake wouldnt lock up at the line. Rev limiter worked ok. I made the pass leaving off the foot brake and thats where things went south. Stay tuned for the rest of the story in a new thread called " Up in Flames"

You did use a 10 spread with nitrous being the higher number right?

As close as I could get with the nozzles I have. There all weird numbers.
