So I'm a freshman in college and it turns out my roomate is a honda fan. He has a 87 Civic SI he always talks about. I keep teasing him about it having no power and he tells me it is pretty fast. Well I was the first one to get a car up here, 65 special 4dr with low comp 455, and we took it out yesterday. First thing I did was lay a 25 ft burnout and he was screaming for me to stop by the time I was at 65. So I stop, he looks over and says, holy s..... this thing has torque :spank: . He now respects old cars, specifically buicks :Smarty: . He told me if he put 3000 in turbo parts his civic could keep up with me till 70, then I pull away. I only spent about 3000 on my car, with buying it. :3gears:

Yeah, those 4-banger guys just don't understand torque. I even heard one of them refer to an SRT-4 as a "torque monster" one time. That STILL makes me laugh.

PS- Where in Wisconsin are you? I went to college up there myself.

Take it easy on the poor hondas. There pretty good for what they've got. I've got a 1990 SiR and it friggin canes for an atmo 1.6. Sure it's no match for a performance Buick, but with only IHE and hondata ecu, I'm making 147HP at the front treads and can keep up with a holden SS of the same year (quickest Holden sedan at the time weighing about 1500kg that makes 220HP from an injected 5 liter).

Yea, just breakin' chops. That what I tell my son's friends when they stop by with their fart pipe cars makin' all their whinin' sounds & try doin' some smokey burnouts that sometimes even stall their cars. I tell them the same thing my, '61 LeSabre & my '64 Riv's lugnuts require more torque than your little buzz bomb, fart pipe, turbo'ed shix box makes. They all know it's in good fun. I'm helpin' my son build a 2 liter turbo'ed V-Dub for his '83 GTI. We're hoping to get around 1K HP out of it. Should be fun!!!!!

anybody ever notice that a really fast import, or any sport compact doesn't have the fart can.I mean actually fast like sub 13 seconds. I do like fast cars, regardless of their drivelines. I've been for a ride in many a honda that shocked me and were down right fast.
I think the fart can of today is likely comparably to cherry bombs in the 70s. I have no proof to that though. :Do No:
