Just saw the TV spot for the JJ and Lyn, WCSX 94.7, Hemi Road runner that's being raffled at the Dream Cruise this weekend for charity. Great idea for a good cause, but what is it? Article on p. 13 of Popular Hotrodding shows a pic (that I think is from the Autorama) with all its fresh Chinese sheetmetal from Sherman, and says it has a new crate Hemi backed by a 5 speed. Dana axle, 4 wheel discs, and painted in the original shade of Vitamin C Orange. This is an all volunteer effort and is a very nice car. I'd love to have it. But.......... Is it a clone? Or is it the "anti-clone" since it probably was a Roadrunner at some time and can still be considered a real one.....?????? Botox for cars!
Well, it's a clone because of the badges, but it's a mod because of the after market part........ So I guess it's a CLOD ou:
Clone Upgrade? It started out as a 383 RoadRunner that was pretty much a basket case. Guy donated it to the radio station for their raffle, and it took off from there. Because it was already a 383 RR, upgrading it to a Hemi doesn't really make it a clone, does it?? It's not like it started out as a slant six Belvedere. And with a crate engine and a bunch of freebie aftermarket stuff on it, it really isn't a "resto" either. More like a ~custom~ Road Runner with a Hemi??o No: Ahh............never mind. It's a clone!:error:
Bet it's light with all that Chinese sheet metal, aftermarket glass, etc. Should be quite fast if it ever sees a drag strip.
Clone bashers So if they did it with a 383 but had the Chinese metal and aftermarket glass would it be a clone? Or a kinda real car with an Asian twist?
