    NOS?
USED on a car for a short time?
    Contradictory dontcha think.
    :puzzled:

I agree it's VERY nice. But I hate to see "NOS" tossed around like that. If you were at a swap meet and saw that wheel in person, advertised as NOS, with washer marks from being bolted in a car, wouldn't you give the seller some crap about that, regardless of how nice the part is?

    Surely NOT nos

Excellent used codition, with no wear marks would be a bit more accurate. But it the horn button, hub, etc are NOT included? I suspect it is a bit over priced being a reserve auction starting at $100 (unless that was Canadian, I forgot to look).:Dou:

I agree...isn't an NOS item one that's NEVER been on a car???

My experience is with 70 models. In that year the GSX wheel is different than GS wheels. It is thicker and better padded. The wheel is either a GS wheel or a GSX wheel and not both if 71-2 carried on the same scheme.

    Hey Jim-

I believe the padded wheel was a '70 only GSX feature, so that wheel would be appropriate for both. In fact, Duane told me at the Berwyn picnic that not all GSX's in '71/'72 even came with a rally wheel!

Now that you say that it rings a bell. Seems like I heard the diameter of the 70 was larger too. I have a ralley wheel that is smaller than my others but I do not know the year of origin. Duane would know.

    buickman70 I pirated this pic!!!

"used on car for a short time"

    This means USED.

NOS= New Old Stock, This means it is New and on a shelf or storage.

I agree with you all it is an excellent low wear Used Part.

NOS becomes used when installed on a vehicle.

That wheel looks like a 71-72 and newer 15" sport wheel. I don't care if it's NOS or slightly used, if it is an original and the grain is about perfect you are looking at a $250 or more wheel. The grain on the reproductions is close, but is not correct. It will be interesting to see how high it goes.

It is a 15 " wheel that I purchased many years ago and has perfect grain texture. It is correct for any 71-72 GS or GSX car as the thick rimmed 15" wheel only came on 70 GSX.A 71 or 72 GSX would come with standard skylark steering wheel unless optioned with the standard thin rimmed 15" rally steering wheel, like the one I have for sale.NOS was used to make bidders aware of the quality of this wheel in the header line nothing more.Sorry if that caused any confusion.
