  2. In and effort to reduce the spam on the site, several years ago I had went to a program where I manually approve each and every new registration. This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

Identity theft is a serious problem these days. I have noticed that some of the members here have their dates of birth and names listed in their profile. Although I don't think that identity theft crooks are likely to target the V8 Buick board for victims, I don't think that you can be too cautious nowadays. I really hesitate to put a lot of personal info on the internet. Just a little crime prevention suggestion. :)

Years ago I started using a *slightly* fictional name/age/birthday on any web related form that wasn't backed by an SSL...I say "slightly" because it's off just a predetermined amount of days and years, and I simply put my name as "R"...you'd be AMAZED at the amount of emails I get addressed simply to "R"...I have to straighten my bulletin board friends out whenever the software celebrates my incorrect birthday, but

I saw on another board where a guy posted his vin # to ask a question about his car, to total strangers no less. In Michigan if I have a vin I can get a cop to sign off on the papers and pull a title on a car as long as it is not stolen. Criminals can pull quite a bit of sneaky stuff with just a little info.

The only thing I have posted that is "real" is my name. It is my nickname, but it is my name as far as I'm concerned - people have called me "Truzi" in real life for years before I was on the web.

I've seen some people post their phone numbers in a thread. That makes me cringe.
