non-Buicks at local dealer

  1. We have a little dealer here that sells mostly 60's and 70's cars. I stopped by today to have a closer look at some decent looking cars sitting out. I can post pics if anyone wants to see, but here's what he's got:

70 Thunderbird in beautiful shape, inside and out. Claims to have a 429 Thunderjet in it. $4950

72 Monte in pretty nice shape w/350. $5950

    66 Satellite in great shape 273 V8. $4950

If you want to see pics, post here and I'll reduce them and post.

    NIce cars

    Especially like the Monte Carlo.

We have a dealer like that in Farmington Hills, MI (Bob Peck ) that has a lot of these type cars also. I don't know where he gets all them, but most appear to be from down South (Ga., Alabama). Cars are nice, but driver quality mostly. Inventory peaks about a month before Woodward.

Interesting spinoff has occurred every time I've been there. There's usually some other people looking also and when I drive any of my neat cars, you learn about a whole lot more cars that are hidden away around the area that you'd never hear about. They really attract attention of the other window shoppers.

One of the guys going ga-ga over my 65 442 convertible had a 68 W30 convertible that came his way when the original owner died. It was hidden away in a garage near Detroit since forever. Not anywhere near as nice as my 65, but all there and no rust. A friend of ours bought it an hour later for $3k. It's now in Phoenix just coming off a complete frame off.

  6. I was pretty impressed with the condition of all 3 of these cars. This place typically has cars that have been, uh, "made over"... not all, but many of them. He had a 72 Cutlass earlier this summer that they had repainted. They sprayed it on so thick on the doors that they actually had sag lines! The Thunderbird is by far the nicest of the lot. Interior looks factory fresh. No signs of rust on body, though I didn't take a look underneath, or underhood to see the engine compartment.

The Monte was in the worst shape, but pretty nice. I really liked the Satellite too, but that interior just looked so cheap. The windshield info on the 'bird claimed original tires. They sure had a lot of tread though. I forget what the miles were. Michelins though? Sound right for a 70 Thunderbird? :Do No:

In case anyone really cares, there is a 76 Pontiac next to the Monte. :Dou:

THose Tbirds don't bring good $$$

A neighbor of mine was down to $2500 trying to sell his original 72 Bird with a 429. MInt 30k car that he bought new and kept in a heated garage with his other nice toys. It had a white leather interior and top, but was un ugly charteuese color that only a Mopar lover could stomach. Ended up putting it away and sold it the next year to a collector out West. Never heard how much, but was cheap, I'm sure. He wouldn't sell it to anyone local as he couldn't stand to see it deteriorate as a daily driver or get "absorbed" into the ghetto called Detroit.

Wierd car. 429 four barrel with single exhaust. Had the original Michelins on it, too.

p.s. BTW, I don't know Bob Peck or have had any dealings with him. Sounds like he's a shady character from a PM I got.

That monte is exactly like the one my grandparents had a long time ago. They sold that and got an 85 Ciera. meh.

Bob Peck is a joke and should be avoided. Most of the cars he has need restorations and he wants nice driver prices for them.

Is it just me? T Birds got so ugly when Ford started making the bodies. Looks to be in nice shape but man that is ugly!

    Listen to Chris Cornett...

STAY CLEAR OF BOB PECK!!!! That joker has been caught in the middle of SEVERAL scams over on the Supercar Registry, and has been repeatedly banned from Ebay as well as having legal action taken against him. He's been caught trying to pass of both fraudulant cars and paperwork. He even had the b@lls to track down where a guy worked, and threaten everyone from the legal department to the CEO with lawsuits, which nearly got the other gentleman fired, all because that guy blew the whistle on some of Peck's scams. A real piece of work.

No joke: I literally have a post-it note on my computer that says "Bob Peck = Bad News".
