    Hi all!!
Got my 455 fired up this week. I installed the summit racing electric fuel pump kit (holley blue pump) and man is it noisy!!! I've never had a electric pump before, but its louder than the engine?? I see that the pump is touching the frame so I'll try to adjust it so it doesen't . Its mounted on the frame in front of the rear spring on the passenger side. Even the pressure regulator is noisy?(thats mounted on the firewall behind the carb)
Something has got to give I can't live with that racket!!! Anyone else have any expereiance with this problem?
    Thanks Brad

They all are noisy. Unless you are racing usually they are unnecessary especially for a street car.

    Yeah, they are noisy.

I think the pump should have come with some rubber insulating mounts- these will help eliminate the whole chassis reverberating. Also, a short piece of rubber fuel line will help keep the fuel line from chattering. I think NHRA allows up to 12" of rubber.

I have heard the Mallory electric pumps are not noisy. They cost more but if they are quiet I will get one. I hate the Holley blue pump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can reduce the noise by putting rubber isolators (rubber washers) on the frame mounts. It'll take the noise down a bit but not much.

For street use, a robbmc pump or even a good stage 1 pump with decent fuel lines will often do the trick.

mine's a tad noisy, but I live with it anyways :)
I see nothing wrong with having one on a street car

I'm running the Mallory Comp 140 with a return regulator and it's super quite. I can hardly hear it WITHOUT the motor running.

mine is a little noisey. just under my seat side 66gs. i only use it on start ups
when the car has been sitting. my carter dries out. saves on starters. will place a piece of rubber between it and the frame.

I also have a Mallory 140 and it is much quieter than my old holley blue pump.

Same here. All the vane type pumps are going to be audible. The geroter versions like the Mallory are much quieter.

Thanks all!! I'll look into the mallory pump . This holley blue pump has gotta go!!! I see in the summit catalog that holley sells a pump, hp125 anyone know anything about it? Is it quiet? Any comparisons to the mallory pump as far as noise is concerned? About the mallory pumps do I need the model 140? How many GPH do I need? Its a 455 that will be a street machine (850 holley dp) do you recomend a return line?
    Thanks Brad

An option you have with a G-body if you want a better/ quiet & street safe modern fuel system is to upgrade to an intank eletric pump. If you don't have access to an old GN/Type or 4.3 tbi monte carlo tank you can buy a new reasonably priced aftermarket GN tank. Here is a link that includes links 4th one down:

Hmnn can't seem to get the link to work. Help from any of you computer savvy people?
