It was a nice day out so I decided to take the Skylark out for a drive to my Dad's place. On the way home after lunch, I pull up to a light and a new Camaro pulls up next to me. The only thing that seemed out of place were the 22" aftermarket wheels. The light changes and as I start to roll the Camaro guy gets on it and I seize the moment and drop into 1st, launch past the guy on a roll, hit 2nd hard, and leave him wanting. We pull up to the next light, and the guy quickly looks left and then turns right and takes off. I guess he didn't want to try twice. I drive along about a mile or so and I notice a black BMW with what looks like an intercooler in the grill coming up behind me. It's got large BBS wheels and lowered stance, and he pulls up beside me at the next light. We start to roll from the light and I can hear his motor start sucking in air like a vacuum and I once again drop into 1st, hit 2nd as the rev limiter kicks in at 5200, and jerk a little sideways into second pulling ahead of the BMW. I didn't even get to run it up hard into 3rd when I noticed him just back off and give up. All in all, it turned out to be an interesting drive home.
Lol, I don't know if your cops go easy on rodders in the states but boy, if I did stuff like this in vic with my Nova I'd have my car impounded, be in jail for a few days, I'm sure lose my license for years, o how I wish it were the 70's or 80's again, my dad got away with drag racing down fort street downtown every weekend. If I could get away with it, in a place with nobody around to Injure I'd do it. Boy I want a 1/4 mile track here so I can run the 4 speed through all the gears and whomp the local 5ler's. I can't even accelerate at full throttle in 1st a little bit because it breaks the tires loose and that here is considered "stunting" which gets your car impounded for 7 days auto matically:spank: I would love to romp around town tearing this 5.0L kids a new arsehole
At the time I wasn't worried about it. I grew up in the neighborhood, the cops know my car, and back when I used to street race it it wasn't uncommon for me to get pulled over "just because". In the town I live in now (where my wife grew up) I keep off the throttle and don't tempt fate, even though I know a few of the cops personally. I wish I lived further south, or back in the hills and mountains of Pennsylvania where my dad's family is from. The car would see a lot more road time there. :grin:

A fast car is relative. Some people never learn that. Good kill. It's all about getting us evil people off the street to make room for the real criminals. Mikey
