    Hi,
I'm new to the forum and have a problem with my 84 Riviera.
Its got the optional digital climate control and recently it has stopped blowing hot air. It still blows cold and all the modes work.
I've noticed that the little orange 'mode selection' (heater, econ, def etc...)light has started flashing when this used to stay on permanantly - this has only started since the heater stoped working.
I am in England therefore nobody knows anything about this car and i'm struggling to find the problem.
I don't know if this is the right section of the forum but any direction would be much appreciated.

    Regards

    Paul

    Paul,
The digital climate control is probably microprocessor controlled. The flashinglight is an idicator that the a problem has been detected. On some units, there is a hidden switch to put the unit into self diagnostic mode. Check your owners manual. The air doors may be moved by electric or vacuum motors (actuators) 1 of them may have gone bad. Can you post a picture of the climate control touch pad?

    Hi Larry,
Thanks for that.I'll take a picture of the control panel and post it on. It is the touch pad one though like you describe.
I've looked in the owners manual and it doesn't say what the flashing mode light means.
What I also forgot to mention is it takes about 45 seconds from when you turn the igintion on for the light to go from normal to flashing- I don't know if that helps?
You can hear the air doors 'flapping' about when you switch between modes so I think they work ok but as you say, it only needs one not to work.
The GS looks awesome by the way - don't get many like that over here!!

    Paul,
I have a 1986 Chassis manual. Don't know if the 84 is the same or similar. If you post a picture, that may narrow things down. I'm sure you don't see too many GS's. I'm really proud of mine :)
