True there is no call at Martin. It is more chaotic though, and that is with 1/2 the cars and a lot fewer spectators wandering the pits. I think the large staging lanes and track layout make it function. Stantons layout, maybe not.

As Martin grows It might be nice to have some sort of call up.

In the meantime leave Stanton alone.

honestly, I thought the call ups and the time the cars spent in the lanes adds to the event for the spectators...........

I love standing by the car in the lanes answering questions and watching the fans marvel at the cars like a car show........

    Donny/Brian,
Not that it matters, but I agree. If they need to done earlier, start earlier and make it clear to the drivers that we need to be in line by Such and such a time. If you're not there, you don't race. and leave the line up as is, it works for the spectators, AND it allows some of us newcomers to put faces and names to cars. I met John Glasgow through this last year. Never would have happened another way.:3gears:

maybe the better solution would be to put a time on the pairings slip.....

if you miss your time, you forfeit the round.......

I musta got info packet version 1.0, because it doesn't address this in anything I recieved...but I say leave it alone, or else I'm liable to never leave the comfort of my trailer & ketchup chips!

I don't see anything wrong with the way Dan and Bob have run their race in the past. Yeah, you will always have some slow people that for whatever reason can't make it to the staging lanes on time. I like the idea of if you can't make it to the staging lanes within a reasonable amount of time you don't run.

I would not change a thing with the exception of penalizing the slow pokes for holding up the staging process.

Sitting in the staging lanes a little while longer doesn't bother me. Like Donny said, it adds to the experience of the spectator to be able to look at the pairings of cars right next to each other in the staging lanes and maybe hear how deep the BS gets between the drivers .

Since I didn't bring a car last year, I didn't get a packet. Is it because there were so many people last year that they are fearful of running out of space in the staging lanes? The staging in the lanes, while it may be a pest to some, is one of the coolest scenes in all of the musclecar hobby. Hoods up on all of the hot muscle that you can take a picture of!

If they are wanting to break it up a little bit or add some spice to it, take the field and split it in half. 13.70 and slower, 13.69 and quicker? :Do No: Give a 30 minutes break after the last of the first group to get to the lanes with your competition. In the mean time, lay down some additional track prep on the start line?

If they did not change a thing, I would be happy with the setup.:3gears:

Frank,I would have tracked you down to shake your hand .Anybody that races a 50,s car with a hand shaker, and still runs 105 mph,is my kind of guy!:TU: It does not matter to me which way Dan and Bob decide to load the lanes, but in defense of them,it is a lot of work on thier part to load the lanes as they do.It took alot of time, and you could see the frustation they were dealing with. They both work hard at organizing this, and maybe this would help them.It might be fun watching all the egos trying to be the last pairing:bla:

    John,
Coming from you, that's a compliment, I appreciate it.
Try this, Drivers meeting Friday nite. Dan says we will start pairing at ten o'clock, you can pick up your pairing numbers at the gate, or at the tech trailer from Nine on. If you aren't ready when we call you forfiet . You are correct, it's up to the drivers to be ready and in line, on time. With this many cars WE have to help them, All of the guys who've done this before, should be helping the "newby's" to make it go smoother. Take somebody under your wing and show him/her the ropes.

Yes, Leave it be! Everyone I know that comes to watch don't like leaving thier seats during racing, cause they don't want to miss any action. When the call to lanes comes, they can go look at cars, usually under the hoods and get some great pictures. They can also interview famous guys like that Brian Stafina!:Do No:

I agree with Tim. While they're "calling to lanes" I'm hanging on every name called out mainly because the speaker system at the track leaves a lot to be desired out in the grass pits. As soon as I hear my pairing called, a quick kiss on Karen's cheek and I'm GONE! I can't understand why there is a hold up when they are calling to lanes. Unless you're in the ~washroom~ evacuating that Egg McMuffin you had for breakfast, :error: there is no reason to be holding the show up.

So let's see...............I can set up a "Good Luck" kissing booth out in the grass pits and charge $50.00 per smooch. I can then raise the money for my new trailer. BRILLIANT! :idea2:
But for some reason I think Karen would rather hand out her home baked cookies instead of kisses.............

But now to bring this back on track............
Have you folks noticed the voting tally??? Only ONE dissenting vote for the "call to lanes".
