I want to make my 71 GS455 look correct under the hood, so I am going to need:

Black air cleaner lid in good shape, I will repaint it

Prefer NOS foam ram cushions, the repros look funky!

Bracket for front of the air cleaner

I currently have a Edlebrock intake installed and headers, so I am not sure about locating the other misc tubes ect. I will need to work on that I guess. I need to have that Buick look under the hood. I have an incorrect rusted chrome lid, and the rest of the air cleaner assembly. Any help from you guys is greatly appreciated though!

Well, I knew this might take a little while, but in the mean time, does anyone one sell black air cleaner lids? Year One sells only the chrome ones! :spank:

    Air Cleaner Support Bracket

    Derek,

Mike Garrison, aka "RACEBUICKS", offers the correct repro support bracket you're looking for. I don't know what his price is but I'm sure it's reasonable.

    Here's the thread about it...

Too bad you didn't say something earlier, I had this saved to my eBay favorites and it didn't get much action... :Do No:

Thanks Brett. I found Mikes website. I contacted him today about the shifter buttons he sells. I will ask him about the bracket too!

    Air cleaner lid

    Derek,

The air cleaner lid is the same as a regular air cleaner for any 455 Buick. You should be able to find one at a junk yard or why not have the current one stripped and then paint it. US Metal Processing on Research Rd in Gahanna can strip it for you for $20.00. I've had them strip two GS hoods recently and they look brand new. Cost was $85 for one(from my convertible) and $105 for the other. I bought the one that was $105 a couple of years ago at the Springfield Cars & Parts swap meet for $60. Had a lot of surface rust on top but was clean on the underside. Now I have a nice 71-72 GS hood for a total investment of $165. It will probably end up on my 72 Stage 1 at some point as the original hood has been dinged in the past and sits low on the grille.

Are you planning on replacing the intake also? If so, you should be able to find a stock intake locally. If you are looking for a correct date coded intake, that will probably take a little longer.

    Hope this helps,

    Larry

Larry, I am coming over...sometime. I really don't know about replacing the intake, but I do have the original one! Was thinking about having Gessler do the heads/intake/exhaust manifolds someday! I was just looking for a more "stock" look under the hood.
