Could you please take a bigger picture of that computer card so that all of us can get a better look at it and tell you what it is? Thanks!

    Carl -

The IBM punch card usually came in the glove box (hence it's 'nickname') and was typically discarded by the selling dealership. It contains all the original options, selling dealership, cowl tag info, and invoice information for this car. It will list all options identified by the BOPF sheet listed, in addition to the invoice specific information.

It's a very cool piece of documentation to have. I know Duane Heckman offers a decoding service for both the IBM punch card and the BOPF sheet.

    Carl,
There are a few different versions of the IBM 80 column punch cards that were put in the glove boxes. Some of them are labeled "Buick Location Cards".

With some help from Marco, I can decode all of them.

    Marco,
I was just glancing over the options on the POBF, pretty cool car.

My car....I got it about 10 years ago pretty much in the same shape it is in today. Engine is a no-serial warrantee replacement from eons ago.
It is indeed special (beyond "stage-1 special"). The color is something else. I have never seen another red/black stage1...people who wanted the hot colors in an "A" body always went chevy it seems.
The options (4sp console, bucket/black interior, AC, power windows, limited)make it a very desirable car. It belongs in a serious collection (restored of course) IMO.

I am afraid to drive her anymore. It's been tough, for I used to drive all the time (never in weather though) to work, store, trips, etc. I bought a regular car (2002 hyundae Elantra) for my driving a few years back. :(

I also own a '60 fuelie vette....let me tell ya if it got destroyed (vette) I'd be disappointed. But if my Buick got destroyed I would be heart-broken!! The buick needs to be preserved, so I'm going to sell her.:(

I'm trying to quantify exactly what I have. I have no idea what these docs I have represent. Is it complete? What am I missing (besides the window sticker)? I also have the original operators-guide and color-foldouts and warrantee card.
Is registering her and getting sloan-certified something I should do? It looks like I have everything in order to do it now.

    Thanks for your help.

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

    Neat Car

That is a great looking Buick! Better hold onto it as you might not ever find another like it. While it would be a nice addition to any collection, I would much rather see an enthusiast such as yourself own it instead of someone that will keep the car out of sight for the rest of us Buick guys to look at and enjoy.

You are very fortunate to have so much documentation for this car. I only find stuff like this in clapped out 4-door parts cars!

I don't mean to hi-jack your thread but that car looks to be almost identically optioned to a car my Dad restored for a guy in South Georgia (pictured below) it was factory equiped as follows: Red with blk top and bucket seat interior, 4-speed, PS, PDB, A/C, PW, P-bucket seat, P-Locks, CA emissions, Am/FM, and many more. It was built at almost the same time as yours (cowl tag reads 2nd week of October (10B)).

I can tell you that your documentation definitely proves your car is a factory stage GS. Have Duane Heckman decode your BOPF sheet (I *think* he charges $20 - click HERE). This will give you all original factory options to pass along to the next potential owner.

Next, determine if you have a numbers matching car. Click HERE for additional information.

I run a factory stage1 registry, and I would appreciate if you registered this GS with me. I ask for the VIN, cowl dataplate information, and all original options. I can derive some information from your picture, but it would be graet if you registered this car. There is additional information HERE.

    Thanks!
