Do you know it is ONE of 123 made W/ three speed manual trans from the factory ? Super rare bird there.
Well... Thanks to you guys that pointed me to Mark at Then & Now... Almost two years later... I've got a fully restored....immaculate...amazing... '65 GS vert... Here are some pics I took today of me dropping of some wheels (15" ralley with fat bird inserts - seeing them next to the fat bird on the nose is just awesome)... Other than changing the top to black from the original white that it had when my dad bought it, that's the only thing not what I would consider original. I wanted to do a lot of things, but Mark wouldn't let me - and I love him for that. Mark and the team at Then & Now have done an amazing job. It really seems like a "new car"...but...with all of the patina on things that should have it (all original emblems except a few that we re-chromed). I should pick it up in about two weeks, just in time to re-unite with my dad who hasn't seen it since he dropped it off with me almost 3 years ago.
Very nice, it looks like she had good company while there seems to be a nice '53 lurking under the sheets
WOW! Nice car!!! The guy who built the engine probably ran the rocker shaft bolts in with an impact wrench. I'll tighten them on a quarter turn at a time alternately and torque them from center out as mentioned above. I guess it depends on which valve is opened and which bolt gets run down first that determines if and where the shaft breaks. A good lesson learned.
