I just found this board by accident and let me say... I love it already.
So much information, I have been a Buick fan since my grandfather took my for a ride in his 74' Electra 225. Feeling the torque of the 455 and I was hooked.
Current car (in progress) is a 1966 Skylark GS, 401, dual quads, with a 2 speed slush box, 3.55 rear gears-open diff.
The car is bound to be a road race car with some streetability.
It has been too many years in the making as I want to fabricate all I can on my by myself. It may take more time but I am proud of each little thing that gets done.

    Sorry for the long intro.
Sooooo very glad I found this place,

    Sal

Not as gald as we are that you found us Sal. You have stumbled on what is rapidly becoming one the Internets best kept Buick secrets.

Dual Quad 401?...you've won me already. Tell us more about your car and post some pics in the Readers rides section. What have you done to the car already, Those dual quads on there or are they just in the plans?

Check out the Nailhead section and make sure you share your knowledge with us.

Participate often and don't be shy to ask anything.

    Welcom aboard. :beer :TU:

Dual quads are there, I was told they were original but after several searches I found that although it is reprted to be true--extremely rare- but true, I doubt this very much. The guy I bought it from was a second owner and claimed the mileage was original (sure). After taling the motor to a very well respected machine shop, he asked how many miles were on the car. About 24,000. He said it's right. The motor still has very clean cylinders, never been rebuilt, etc.
Oh well I guess that was true.
Well the car was bought under the impression, "all it needs is the carbs rebuilt and the exhaust, you can fix the fenders too."
Hey I was just 18, who knew.
Well I go to put the started in after a rebuild and the motor doesn't turn, the motor mount bolts have no nuts on them, tranny is just sitting on the crossmember, etc, etc, etc.
Time to take this apart and start fresh.
The frame is completely redone, I was a welder and fabricator by trade. Suspension is complete and reinforced for racing purposes, though not installed currently through no fault of my own.
The body is and has been on a rotiserie for some time.
Well as some of you may know, a project can get larger and larger without you knowing it. Kind of my story.
Well the car designs are pretty much finalized. Some of my previous work will be redone as I have new ideas for the suspension. I have a 1949 Dodge truck that will be the guinea pig.
The Buick is and will be a long process, I am truly in love with that car and although it doesn't have to be perfect, it's gotta be close.
I will be back at it again once my suspension design is proven and I take care of a body building show in May.

I am truly hoping for very Buick summer.
