Should we modify this perfect grandma car?

  2. Keep as original stock 2bbl, single exhaust because she's unmolested for 50 years?

Didn’t get any headers, I was looking to get shorty headers but the are hard to find. The system connected great I also added an x pipe. Needed some extra pipe to attach to stock exhaust manifold (since I got headers back kit) but other then that was a easy install. Guys at the muffler shop did an awesome job and it sounds great.

    Sharp car!!
I say keep 'er as is maybeo_O
Man, its a tough call, you dont see original "grandma's" Skylarks every day;)
If it were mine, probably dual exhaust with Walker 17749 mufflers.
Q-Jet 4 bbl on factory iron intake.
    Electronic ign. under original cap.
But DAMN, thats a nice ride, is that black or dark blue?
No vinyl top is extra nice!

Welcome & very nice car, so clean looking. You hit the Skylark lottery. I agree with many other members Exhaust/carb/ electronic ignition. and maybe Posi and see how she treats you. A little bit at a time, and it keeps you interested and motivated. How many owners ? Are those after market Wheels ?

What a beauty of a skylark find. Original paint too?

X2 plus add some 3:23 or 3:42's out back.
Ad a rear sway bar with the right lower boxed arms for a sure footed feel and yes do check all the brakes and think of a front disc swap.
I would pass on the headers for now, I think the added HP would not be much do to the low compression motor and just be louder plus the fitment issues can be a nightmare, plus probably constant re tightening.
Thinking you will be very happy for a while with few first upgrades.. and will feel like a new ride.
Yes that is a NICE car and like Mark I like the no vinyl.

Dano mentioned adding factory gauges which would look good!
