Hi, this is really stupid but how do you take a driveshaft out of a car. Specifically off of the transmission. I need to take mine out and don't know how. The more detailed the instructions the better and pics are great. Thanks for any help

  2. I'll help you out just because weve all been there before, maybe. The driveshaft unbolts from the rear diff. 4 bolts on the u-joint. When you unbolt it make sure you dont lrt the cups come off the u joint, take some tape and wrap it good. After that just pull and the front of the drive shaft will slip out of the end. It might be master splined so be carefull when putting it back on. Remember do not let the cups come off, you might loose needles and then youre screwed.

You'll be surprized (disappointed) at how easy it is and how small the u-bolts are. Make sure you have a pan under the rear of the tranny to catch all the fluid that will come out.

On second thought, do what was suggested in another post. Cover yourself in tranny fluid before doing anything - if you're not careful you'll end up covered in it anyway.
